Lucid dreamer since child - Dream Control most of the times

      Hi guys!

I want to use this topic to introduce myself as well. I'm Percy from San Diego, California and I have always been obsessed (in the good way) with dreams.

Today it was a slow day in my store and I I do not remember why, I started browsing wikipedia (unusual for me) and I landed in "Dreams" and then I did a google search and found this awesome site.

Well... there has been something going on with my dreams since I was a kid that I could not explain, until today that I found a definition for what was happening in my dreams. As we all know, Lucid Dreamer. I'm pretty amazed with all I read today and very excited! (I've been reading for hours on this and I will dream it over tonight for sure )

Since I was a kid, I literally abused both Lucid Dreaming and Dream Control. I remember when I was a kid, knowing that I was in a dream and saying myself "It's a dream, I will go ahead and jump over the window and fly." So I did. That's a small example. When I was a teenager... well, I think we all are adults here so I may said it. I had a crush on a girl that was walking on the street, knew it was a dream and walked towards her knowing she would fall for me...

Even now, as an adult I Lucid-dream several nights a week, even if I'm very tired and sleepy. I can Dream-control easily so I almost never have nightmares. When a nightmare do happen, I can control it or "half control it" If there is nothing I can do (you will laugh over me) I summon Freddy Krueger in my own dream and he helps me out. Once I had a dream were a huge crocodile was chasing me. I knew it was a dream because that thing was huge. Tried to grow wings, no success, tried to empty the lake, no success, I tried many things until I said "I can't do it" So I called Freddy Krueger and he slew the crocodile. Silly, but worked. This rarely fails, but sometimes it does. If it does, I just say to myself, "I will start making noises and ask my wife to wake me up" So I start speaking in "waking-real life" I wake up my wife and she wakes me up. Works always.

Well, sorry for the huge wording, but I just wanted to share. I briefed it a lot, but I'm very surprised finding out about this. I'm Lucid Dreamer since I can remember (and I do remember lucid dreaming when I was 3!) and I also remember controlling them as well... in addition, I do have a major dream recall ability. Some nights I do not remember a thing though

That's because nightmare are a loss of control. Specifically too much attention on one negative aspect, which causes it to grow out of control. You don't need Freddy, just ignore whatever is bothering you and it will cease to exist.

I hate dream crocodiles. They re-animate too easily.

I too only realized that what I did as a child had a name. I haven't had anything but nightmares for years and I mean YEARS....as an adult who has found her soul mate I have truly found my happy place. So as soon as that happened all my trauma came crawling out of the woodwork and I am falling apart at the seams so I understand why I have so many nightmares. I am currently in trauma therapy which is EMDR which is working with the brain on processing and it is my therapist who told me what it is I do. This is a mostly non verbal therapy it is teaching the brain how to process and I have to put myself back into the most traumatic part of the event while having stimulating equipment in my hands alternating a buzzing rhythm and it kind of puts you in a relaxed state so your brain is able to go with the event or even think about non related things but as a result it becomes less of a bad memory just a memory which doesn't bother you any more. You don't forget but it doesn't make you have an emotional response when you think about it and it doesn't plague your memories. Not really related to dream control but still similar to processing things and the brain. Right now I would love to get back in to lucid dreaming and dream control but it was so natural for me as a child that I don't want to force it plus with all my past catching up on me it is rare I have anything other than nightmares. Some of my nightmares aren't terrors and they don't start as nightmares but more dreams which suddenly take a twisted turn. Sometimes I am not scared in them but more upset and those are generally with my husband betraying me or being awful to me which are of course is because my biggest fear in life is for the only person who has never hurt me to turn around and hurt me.

I love your Freddy concept. It could be anything or anybody I suppose, just someone or something you have utter confidence in who can come to your aid/rescue and wup that crocs ass. For me it was being chased by big Alsatian dogs. I will repost this in nightmares forum too as some might say its more appropriate their.

Well, for me it was very normal and something I though happened to everybody that I never focused on it. I would just turn lucid in my dream and start to do all sort of stuff. If I wanted to do something in waking that I was unable to (such as ride a rollercoaster, or go to a boat) I would tell myself to dream it and I always did.
99.99% of my non lucid dreams I am "semi-lucid" I am not thinking properly and not aware I am dreaming, however, I am aware that I am not in my waking / physical body and/or that everything I would do, would not put me under jeopardy.
Click the door... and welcome to my dream world!
