      A More Direct Approach.

Ok. I realise telling "ones-self" that one WILL LD tonight seems to work for a few. But has anyone tried using more "Direct" methods of getting in touch with the Sub-Conscious such as Automatic Writing etc. ie Asking to be allowed to LD. It's amazing what answers you get.(Basically this involves using a blank piece of paper.........and letting your mind write whatever it wants to). Just think of Nothing and let it Flow.

Regarding automatic writing or any form of channelling where one's conscious mind is still engaged, it is difficult to give credit to the subconscious or the unconscious mind for what may be thinly veiled presentations of the conscious mind. For instance, how is anything I do in these posts any different from automatic writing except that I am willing to consciously own up to it?

Edgar Casey was able to build his career upon the supposition that he was going totally unconscious before he would begin spouting his information from flat on his back. But the next generation thought that entering a sleeping transe was a pretention or an unnecessary delay, or they thought that it somehow diminished their sense of self-importance, to pretend that they could not remember everything they had just made up. and so these channelling arts and automatic writing sessions came into vogue. I even went to a Workshop once by one of the Channelling Greats, who, when asked what to do it there seems to be a block -- when nothing seems to come -- she answered, "Well, just start making something up". Wouldn't that more likely reflect the last movie the person watched, or book read, than anything from the Subconscious?

But it is certainly all muddied up with conscious interference. Where we may be able to lie to others about our dreams, certainly we cannot lie to ourselves, and although they may be cryptic and puzzling oracles, at least we know that our Dreams are genuinely from the Subconscious.

I would never abuse this, but it has given me great insight and forecast many future events. I look upon this as my Guardian Angel. (No Joke). No Offence Leo.........................But if You Are what you say you are ...................Wouldn't you be considered a Heretic in Former Times..

For what it's worth, I agree.

I'm relatively new to this site, but from what I've seen, Leo tends to have opposing viewpoints to pretty much everything someone says. Not only that, but Leo tends to know what he's talking about and writes 3+ paragraphs on why he's right. That takes skill. Kudos, Leo.

Everybody knows their own experience. There may actually be a real thing in Automatic Writing, and the automatic writer knows himself that he has surrendered his hand perfectly to a Subconscious Inspiration. If I was such an Automatic Writer, I would prefer to say that I was given such Information in a more traditional way, such as a trance -- that one passively received the information from one's mental perceptions. You see, by using what is usually an active faculty -- writing, or in the case of Channellers -- speaking, it just seems awfully suspect that there is an imposture... a fraud. But, yes, only the person knows for sure -- or an expert in linguistic usage. When channelling was all the rage in the New Age circle, I went to see a famous channeller -- some fortysomething housewife who died her hair, hoped to look thirtysomething, and began to play the part of a 3000 B.C. Aryan War Lord. So she put on this Pirate's Voice which lacked nothing but having a peg-leg and a parot on her shoulder and used plenty of crude humor. It all quite convinced all the other housewives, but twenty minutes into her routine, her accent broke and she used a girlish accent on a word that probably just slipped in, as she forgot her lines. I glared at her and she knew she lost one of her audience.

There may be another concern.... where is this information coming from? Yes we speak of the Subconscious and even of the Collective Subconscious. In a Dream we can evaluate by their appearance the characters whom we confide in. People, as well as Spirits tend not to lie about the Uniforms they adopt. Evil, hateful, and low people make it a point to wear just the right outfits so that there is no mistaking that they are evil, hateful and low. Good People, and Good Spirits tend to look the part. But when all you have is writing... well, I suppose one could consult a handwriting expert to discern the level of the Spirit one is receiving dictation from.

But, yes, if you insist that your automatic writing is not consciously controlled -- and you are not trying to make money off of it, then I have no reason to doubt you.

      Thank you.

I don't always mean to be contrary. Often times I will endeavor to present both sides of an argument, supposing that Intellectual Honesty requires one to give a full presentation which includes both the pros and the cons. Only Lawyers and Liars will carefully pick one side of an issue and hide everything that would speak against it.

I can see that the doubts I interject may not be appreciated widely. In the West everybody has been conditioned by Paulist Christianity into supposing that Faith is necessary for everything. Well, it isn't. Paul, frankly speaking, was the antichrist. Faith is rather an impediment to progress. The Buddhists even have a discipline called the Doubt Sensation. They crease their brows as though in the most severe doubt and they keep their brows furrowed. Try it for a minute. You will feel the sensation build up in your forehead. As they tell it, that Doubt Sensation will eventually break up into a Clarity. Notice they never speak of a "Faith Sensation"

Oh, and since I spoke of it... if you try to Doubt Sensation discipline, while you are creasing your brows in doubt, you can help it along with an upward energy by lifting your Heart and your mouth in a smiling laughing position. Mixed with the doubt glare of the creased brows, it makes for an odd looking face, so it is best to do that one in the privacy of your meditation room.

it's funny you mention that...because when someone says something, and i don't quite believe them...i do just that. And after a while i get that 'clarity' which tells me whether they are true or false. I'm usually right!

Ha ha...people wouldn't know how to take you, doing that!! 'is she laughing or frowning?'
      that could cause serious confusion!
could be fun though, for a joke...
