Absolutely, they can come in any form. My dream guide for a long time was Splinter from the TMNT series. I haven't seen him for while though.

Yep, they can come in any shape or form - animals, characters, entities that you've never even seen before...
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

If I may, can I hijack this thread and get everyone to say what their dream guide was, and why they think it was what it was? I would really like to know, and I can't start another thread while this one is active.

Alright, thanks. I just assumed you got what you wanted from the first two posts. DGs can be anything/anyone you know or probably see as a kind of "guide" figure. It's just a matter of time until you meet them.

I've only ever had one "dream guide" experience. It was a former classmate of mine named Casey. I remember looking at him and asking him if I was a dream and he said "yeah".

I've never had any other kind of experience like that though.

I think the astral dream guide takes the form of what you resonate with the most. personally im really into the whole social networking thing so when i asked my guide to reveal themselves up popped a twitter screen thought bubble with a greeting message.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

Lol, I guess they don't even have to be living to be able to communicate. I have don't know what mine will be, but I have some idea that it is going to be gaming related, as most of my dreams have some gaming element to them.

I haven't been able to summon a consistent dream guide, so mine are always different figures helping out. Usually they fit their surroundings though... in my dream of a school, the principle came up to me and offered assistance. And in university, it was the psychology professor... Kinda makes sense - expectations definitely come into play.

If I ask questions of the lucid dream and there's no-one around to answer, the information can be written in the air, or on the ground, or even in the trees. Or sometimes figures appear out of nowhere to talk to me - from the sky (god-like), or once a guy peeled himself out of the bark of the tree next to me as if he was there all along!

Can you only meet your dream guide in a lucid dream? Or can you also have encounters with them in a non-lucid dream????

Not sure. You may already have met your dream guide in a normal dream, but to be sure you have to go find your dream guide in a lucid, then see if they are the same. But really, I think anyone you meet in a normal dream are just characters. Only in lucids can a dream guide appear.

I often have dream companions in nonlucid dreams. They are usually friends from my conscious life. They just kind of accompany me through the dream.

Really? Thats kinda cool. All my dreams are either watching a group or random or collective people (who should be together) do stuff, or if I am in the dream in 1st person, then I sometimes have characters from TV/Games/Films with me.
