DILD is considered the "easier" technique in general, because it essentially just requires you to practice awareness and mindfulness. WILD requires awareness as well, but at a different time - when you're falling asleep, which can be more difficult. With this in mind, DILD practices can definitely help you become more conscious in waking life, which in turn may help prevent you from drifting off during a WILD attempt.
Here are some awesome DILD guides, each slightly different in their methods, but all involve awareness.
Puffin's DILD Guide - random awareness/observation, deep reasoning and skepticism
KingYoshi's "ADA" DILD Tutorial - (emphasis on) a steady level of awareness/observation all day, deep reasoning
Naiya's DILD and WILD Secrets - a steady level of awareness/observation all day, deep reasoning and skeptcism
As for your WILDing, know that 3 days for trying a WILD isn't that long at all. It took me a good month to get my first one, and others either less or more time.
MILD is definitely a good technique to try, and it can be combined with any other method out there, since it's really just about confidence, mindset, and using a mantra/repeating a message.
