Does Sleeping in new locations ncrease the chance of Lucid Dreaming?

hi, Today,my family and i are leaving for a short vacation. I've read in a few places that sleeping in new locations increase dream recall, and amount of dreams. The reason of this has to do with your mind and body not being accustomed to this new setting. So I'm just wondering id sleeping in different locations will increase the probability of and LD.

I think it depends on more factors such as the temperature and humidity, which may or may not make it easier to sleep reducing the number of potential dreams. Also the food you get served there could make a difference.

Set the intention to recongnise whenether you are not in the new location as a dream sign

Oh, and if you're going abroad then the Cycle adjustment may increase Probability of an LD (CAT)

I've heard that sleeping in an unfamiliar environment can lead to sleeping more lightly, which could mean more awareness in your dreams. Not sure why it would make your recall better, though I have noticed that it seems to sometimes.

Yeah I think it can because when I sleep in hotel rooms I usually have lucids. Just another reason to take vacations

Well when ever I sleep at my friends house and wake up and I'm suddenly in my bed it normally tells me I'm dreaming. So in that sense I guess you have another way to tell if your dreaming.

It can help. when ever i hit dry spells 10 days or more i end up moving my sleep position and environment. example i go from laying down in my bed in my bedroom to sleeping up right on a recliner in my family room. The idea here is to keep it fresh with what already works for you on some level. namaste

Yeah it could, because maybe you are more subconsciously aware because the environment isn't completely familiar.
But like what BIGCobra said, there are other factors, such as temperature. In the summer, I usually switch how I sleep because it is so hot.
Like some days I sleep with my head at the foot of the bed, just because it is more convenient for having cold air hitting me, I don't know if that directly aids in lucid dreaming though; some people on here say they WILD laying with their had at the foot of the bed and that helps them somehow.

I don't know what it is, but sometimes I put my pillow on the other end of the bed to break dry spells.

I have found that each time Dark_Merlin stays over at my house, he gets a lucid dream.
Last time, he had 4 lucid dreams at my house.

Hmmmm....where have you read that light sleeping increases awareness....it may explain why I generally have decent awareness and natural lucidity most times, I am a super light sleeper, like having my roommate whisper my name across the room and I wake up saying "what?", light. lol

Meh, getting to sleep is easy, it's just staying asleep that's hard. Which sucks when you have a room with a shit ton of natural light and a cat that is very talkative.

EDIT: I worked for a decent amount of time on third shift which I think permanently screwed with my ability to stay up late....if that makes sense. Basically if I am lying on a couch I will fall asleep in like 20 min, but easy to wake up.

Does for me, I've had loads of lucid dreams in strange places. I think the reason is that because you are in a new place, your brain is much more aware because it's unfamiliar with the surronudings.

I never have lucids if I'm in a different location - sleeping position, maybe, but not an entirely new place.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I think it does help. Even though I barely ever sleep in new places (my body has a huge problem falling asleep in any place other than my couch or bed) and usually end up finally sleeping at like 3 am, I always seem to have extremely vivid dreams.

Also, I've tried sleeping on the floor before and it seemed to help too.

Ironically, I had my first lucid dream just after returning from a week of sleeping on a couch an hour from my house.

I've never gotten lucidity from it, but sleeping in strange places has given me some incredibly vivid (and crazy) dreams that I was able to recall perfectly. I suspect it could help with lucidity too.

I find it easier to have lucid dreams, or move vivid/nightmare dreams in general, when I'm on vacation. I think it is a combination of stress and light sleeping. My parents snore horribly, it echoes through the walls and I have to sleep in the same room as them, so I get kind of annoyed and try to block it all out with my iPod or earplugs. Still hard to stay asleep though, so this probably makes me sleep lighter and have more awareness. Usually this causes lucid nightmares for me though.

      I vote yes.

I went on a mission trip for a week and slept on the floor. Had lucid dreams every night except one. And almost every other time i've slept somewhere other than my bed i've had one.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever had a lucid dream anywhere except a bed. When I'm camping or something I have very vivid dreams, but never lucid :/
