Please Help With My Dream Recall

I learned of Lucid Dreaming 2 days ago from an online friend. The first day I knew about it i did mantra without realizing. I kept saying "I will have a Lucid Dream" and that night I woke up at the ends of my dreams. The first wake up i could remember some parts of the dream and i wrote it down. Then i did a WBTB (at that time i didn't even know i was doing this) and went back to sleep again. This time i became lucid for around 3 secs. The thing that caught my eye that made me say "wait" wasn't out of the ordinary at all. it was just an old lady in blue. But when i did think "wait" my heart beated fast and it went grey. I opened my eyes and wrote it down. But since then i haven't been able to recall any of my dreams. I've started practicing ADA to help my awareness so i can recall better its only been the first day. I'm worried that i won't be able to recall my dreams anymore. Please help me if there are any techniques or way of thinking that i could try please help me thank you. Oh and i signed up on the site yesterday. Is it just because i'm new to it all? Is this natural that i cant recall very well? Please reply thank you.

As you fall asleep at night, tell yourself you will record your dreams as soon as you wake in the morning. Picture yourself doing it. When you wake, lie still for a few minutes with your eyes closed and let your mind wander back to your most recent dream. Even the briefest of impressions can open the floodgate to remember the full dream.

Remember to do this anytime you wake up during the night, not only when your alarm goes off in the morning.

      welcome!

it is normal to forget most of our dreams, especially if we have given little attention to them in waking life. the brains short term memory centers are usually off-line while we dream, so we tend to easily forget most of the experiences. with a little intention ("i will wake up after and remember my dreams") and dedication ("ive got my DJ next to my bed, i just woke up and remember a dream, but im soooo tired, im sure i will remember it in the morning... NO, i will write down some notes right now!") your dream recall will improve.

Thank You ill try and lie down for a few minutes to wander back into my dream. Then i won't put them off and write them down immediately. I'll also try telling myself that i will remember my dreams and write them down when i wake up and I'll start visualizing myself waking up and recording my dreams. I hope my dream recall gets better and this becomes a habit.

I stopped waking up between sleep cycles and this morning i woke up and remembered one dream not just a part of it the full dream! It wasnt descriptive i just remembered what i did what happened. Well not everything i did but parts where i can get the story line of what i was doing o.o I'm surprised i didnt get lucid about how strange it was.

ive been doing this for 4 months now and i havent had but 1 lucid other than when i was younger and a few close calls..... right now im still working on my dream recall .... but i tell you what its alot better now then what it was. at first it was a dream hear and there then it was dreams and fragments and now im writing 4 page stories in the journal and about filled up a 70 sheet note book .... im no expert but if i could tell you anything its to not work on acheving lucidity but work on your recall ..... no recall no lucids because you wont remember. Still do rc's and ADA for sure! but just focus on recall and the rest will fall into place!!!! good luck buddy and good night!!!

Oh yeah, I've nearly forgotten a lucid because of not-so-great dream recall. It wasn't that great of a dream, but the fact that I was lucid for about a minute was great.

I've found my dream recall to be fluctuating. There was a time I could remember a whopping 3 dreams in one night, all three decent in size. I started out barely remembering one, and today it's around the middle. But I will admit that today I've been having my mind on something else important for awhile instead of dreams, so that's probably a factor. Setting your mind to remembering dreams is a must.
