Why doesn't REM rebound ever work for me?

I've had plenty of nights following nights where I got little to no sleep at all. I don't remember a single dream from those nights. I tend to have vague memories of dreams from other nights, but not these particular nights which are supposed to be FILLED with dreams due to REM rebound. Does REM rebound not work for me? Do I go into such a deep sleep that I don't even have dreams?

It's not that you don't have them it's just the fact you aren't recalling them.
People have "dry spells" from recalling but when you wake if you lie in bed and try to remember even a fragment you can back trace as much as you can remember to possibly remember the dream.

Try eating a lot of things containing B vitamins like dairy, bananas, milk, peanut butter and especially cheese.

      They apparently help.

first off, the tip about the cheese...OH HELL YES...i have found that cheese in particular red chedder truly induces astounding nihgts of dreaming as well as spontaneous lucids. For extra effect i have found that red garlic is literally amazing for dreaming clarity as well as a bit of chocolate. Bannanas may be the best though. It truly does give you a better experience and it may even be part of the expectation as your going to bed...interstingly, i thought maybe the moon was alwyas associated with chesse(you know the old saying the moon is made of cheese, where did it come from?) becuase the moon itself has always been associated with dreams and vivid dreams, therefore it is associated with cheese(it also looks like cheese at times) but this is just a playful sidenote!

Your problem with the REM rebound can only really be called a problem if you repeat it and get the same result...i advice you to do just that it could be very intersting.

Personally, the night before last i had been up for over 24 hours...went to bed...woke up with one of the most amazing lucids ever so im doing it again tongiht!!

keep it up, keep the intention, truly question your reality you have to really mean it and visuallise yourself thoughtout the day as becoiming lucid and perfomring activities in the dream!

Haha, love the sidenote about the moon
I have only tried waking up in the morning to induce a wild once, and as I was falling asleep again, birds started chirping outside. There went my attempts :/
but after what Zenithar said, I want to try staying awake a whole day then having a lucid
