Question A year of nothing.. help?

I have been attempting to WILD and have OBEs for a year now.. but nothing has happened. I spend 3 hours a day (morning, afternoon, and night) for a straight year trying to do one or the other and I still get nothing. I've followed numuerous tutorials, I can keep my body still for hours+. and through my meditation I can keep my mind on one point concentration for a long duration also, but still nothing.

I just attempted to WBTB after after a few hours of sleep and layed there for around 2 and a half hours.. Can you believe that... some people say they can get sleep paralysis in a matter of 10-15 minutes and im laying there for 2 and a half hours with nothing.

I see the lights behind my eyes in a matter of 10 minutes then I become super relaxed... I keep my eyes as still as possible.. my body doesnt move besides the occasional twitch, and I've got past the swallowing to only swallowing a couple times every 75-100 breaths and after a while I dont have the need to do it anymore...

Whats going on? I started wanting to do OBE's then went to LDs because I wasnt making progress but it turns out I cant do either! I really just want to show some sign im improving and reach sleep paralysis. Even after hours of lying down my body doesnt feel numb or heavy, it just feels relaxed. I'm at the point where I'm about to quit as I have nothing to show for all my hard work besides being able to play dead for hours.. Please share some advice

      Thanks

It sounds like you might be too aware and keeping yourself up. I've found that when trying to WILD, there is a sweet spot between awareness and unawareness. If you're entirely unaware, you'll just fall asleep. If you're entirely aware, you'll just stay awake all night. You've got to find that balance of awareness and unawareness.

Also, I'd recommend trying to have DILDs rather than WILDs/OBEs. Might be easier.

Well really I'm not sure. It is possible as I've been meditating for quite some time.. meditations like anapanasati, samatha, and vipassana, so my focus on my breath has become quite strong, but In some tutorials like Jeff777's Mind awake, body asleep - sleep paralysis induction tutorial he said to lay down and a strong signal will arrive. I recieve a large amount of feelings and itches during that time but i've never been affected by them and just stay still, then nothing happens. My mind is in a relaxed, passivlely flowing state, but If I let go too much then my mind will obviously go to bed before my body. I'm at dead end and I'm realy not too sure on what I can change to have my body reach SP... Im starting to think I cant induce my body into SP.. it just wont happen. Im not a happy camper at the moment.

And by the way I have had some DILDs in the past which were great experiences, but ive also just really wanted to go from a waking state. And I've always thought the more concentrated and aware you are the better.. but maybe too much isnt good?

Like I've said, I've found that there can be too much awareness if you're trying to WILD--it prevents me from falling asleep, but it might be different for you. For DILD, I haven't found this to be the case--since I'm already asleep, the more awareness that I can have while I'm dreaming the better.

My advice is to get pretty good with DILDs so that you can still have LDs frequently while you're working on WILDs or OBEs.

I think its more the aspect of "mind almost asleep but still awake, body asleep".

To be fair, you would think a month or two of nothing working would prompt you to give up on that particular way of going at it.

Try each method in it's entirety, for about 2 weeks to a month. If it doesn't work by then, move on. Make sure to do them properly, and don't just assume that staying still or concentrating harder will force a result. Sometimes you're just too late in the REM, or you are too tired or awake, or it's just not for you.

Took me 3 months to get my first lucid, and I tried everything. Even when I stuck with the "winning" method I haven't had another one since- about 2 weeks later. Reality check, dream journal, confidence, and tenacity are all you need. You have tenacity, probably the dream journal, maybe reality checks, and now you just need confidence.

You could just give up on trying to WILD. I have only had it happen to me randomly, never by intention. Why not focus on becoming aware while already in the dream state? DILD, as this forum calls it.

Catalog you dreams, look for dream signs, continue doing WBTBs, reality checks during the day, etc. WILD seems to be very hard for many people. I have had countless lucid dreams, but almost none of them from WILD.

As for OBE, perhaps try that upon waking up from a dream instead of while falling asleep. I have the same issue as you; I cannot really get into that relaxation, mind awake / body alseep state at will. I will just lay there awake for hours. However, when I wake up from a dream I am already half asleep, so that time can be used to work on OBEs. Upon waking from a dream, do not move your body, and implement whatever technique you wish for projection. You will have caught your body while it is already very sedated, instead of trying to induce that state from complete wakefulness.

Have you tried the Timer Method? It's basically a Deild alarm just lay still on every awakening and with closed eyes and you will wake up in sleep paralysis. This is lucidology 101 part 6 so it's free. Just do a wbtb for 5 or 6 hours then fall asleep with the timer ramp and the alarm will do the rest, just make sure that you are laying still and have closed eyes on every awakening.

What you do in sleep paralysis is up to you But then you can just use a good transition technique in one of the guides on this site.

I haven't been so successful with Traditional WILDs either but this timer have worked every time. But I stopped using it because it woke up others too... But that is solved now.
