      Visualizing

Alot of people in guides, experiences ect with lucid dreaming claim they can visualize images, feelings. It must be a gift because I cannot see images when I close my eyes, the only thing I see is the occational colour passing by. I don't think it is an imagination issue, and I have no problems when in dreams, but the conjouring of images in my head at my choice I cannot do. Is it a gift people are born with, or can you not actually see it so its more a figure of speech?

Some people are better at visualization than others. My little brother can imagine things as if they were real life. I however can barely see anything. But with practice you can improve your visualization skills. Being good with visualization is not a requirement to lucid dream.

Yeah, but maybe we have different interpretations of what we see, you brother may say he can see it, but can he see it on the back of his eye lids, thats where I would expect to see something if I visualized it.

You don't actually see it on the back of your eyelids. You see it in your mind's eye. Can you imagine something clearly? That is all you need for these techniques to work.

Hmm... interesting topic. I've always wondered what exactly people meant by visualizing. I think I got lucky by having a rare deteriorating retna disorder (Haha). My vision at all times looks like it has a sheet of static over it like an old antena T.V.- but when I close my eyes the millions of specs turn into images my subconscious is processing. When I focus on it, they form into the images I purposely visualize, and that helps for WILD's at night.
We may guess that in dreams life, matter, and vitality, as the earth knows such things, are not necessarily constant; and that time and space do not exist as our waking selves comprehend them. Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon." H.P. Lovecraft

It always amazes me to see how different each individual is. I can visualize anything with my eyes closed, or even with my eyes open. With eyes open its hard to describe, For example I can picture a cup ontop of my computer. While my eyes don't actually see it, I can see it in the back of my mind. Sorry for the savageness, but it's hard to articulate.
Nerq, On a board I use to frequent people talked of those same symptom and called it 'Visual snow' just triggered my memory
