Lightbulb Someone should make a scale...

Someone should make a scale of lucidity, if someone has not already done so.
Because it's more than apparent that there is a 'gray scale' of lucidity.
like 1 - 5 or 10, one being not aware... 5 or 10 being stable and vivid.
      i would but i'm lazy.
we could refer to it to make everything easier.

i had 3 consecutive LD's last night, they progressively became "more real".
so yeah... make it detailed :3

The problem with making a lucidity scale is that control and vividness are often put into it, going higher along with the lucidity, but that's not always the case. One can be highly conscious but have issues controlling the dream, or not be able to see anything because of fuzziness.

The scale would have to be very simplistic and only focus on awareness and consciousness, the ability to make decisions. Logic also might not go up with lucidity; I've had a few high-level lucids where I did some really stupid things.

It would be nice to have a simple scale like this, though. Imo it would be better than going into too much detail, as to not be too confusing.

Congrats on the lucids, by the way! Three in a night is awesome!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I become very wary of the concept mostly because of Nicholas Newport...

Still though, I see no problem with describing it on a case-by-case basis. If someone described it to me with standard adjectives, or say x/10, I would have a good enough idea what they're describing.

I don't think anything like this would ever work. It does work to make your own personal scale for your dreams but it wouldn't work if everyone tried to use the same scale. Everyone dreams a little diferently and every single dream is different. Even trying to define a lucidity scale on a basic level would be very dificult. Luicd dream simply means that you know that you are dreaming so sometimes you sort of either know or you don't. However theres lots of other factors that can be included. Lucid also usualy implies clearness of thinking. Somepeople might want to include the stability of the dream or the control over the dream or the vividness. On top of that a simple number won't be able to describe why the dream was as lucid it was or how it was lacking.

I ran across some guy on youtube a while ago who had made up 5 'layers' of lucid dreaming. (The 5 Layers of a Lucid Dream (1/5) - YouTube). It sounded okay to me, until near the end when he got to the 5th layer and it became apparent he thought it was literally some spiritual dimension.
