I sleep in a sort of mix between the yearner and the foetus.

I either fall asleep in the Starfish, Soldier, or Yearner positions. Varies all the time but almost every morning I wake up in the Foetus position. I wonder how long i sleep until I switch.

Regarding the idea of having a better chance of LDs on the back, I also believe this is true. I almost always try to fall asleep on my side in something similar to a fetus position, but after having an LD I usually wake up on my back. I also find that after several hours of sleep, when I want to attempt a WILD, I almost always have a better success rate when on my back. And most of my SPs happen on my back. Maybe it has to do with the position of your head, where the concentration of blood is in the brain? I have no clue.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

i sorta have jsut thought it was form the feeling of being on your back compared to on oyur side or stomache like you feel more free to move and not so much as that your laying down but maybe could be standing up or something.... i want to sleep jsut under water like floating... maybe it would have a sweet result. :/

I usually sleep on my side, but my position varies. The legs are curled up under the blanket if I'm cold, while they're sprawled out all over the place when it's hot. Also, tucking jut one leg in tends to be comfy. As for the arms... I usually keep one under the pillow, depending on thickness of said pillow.

Oh yeah, and the personality traits thing is, of course, a lot of hogwash.

I've found that I can easily nap on my back, but that a good night's sleep is a 'free-fall'.
Yeah I've always thought there would be some form of connection with sleeping habits and Lucid dreaming on some level. I bet that Majority can only go Lucid this way. Very interesting indeed...

I kinda sleep the same way as matchbook most of the time. Although I do tend to sleep in the fetus and freefall position occasionally. I tend to have trouble getting to sleep a lot of times (due to many things: mind running a mile a minute, headaches, bodily pains, or for reasons unkown) so I tend to switch up sleeping styles based on what feels the most comfortable and relaxing.

I sleep in an odd hybrid of Yearner and Freefall.. I lay with my head against the pillow, and one arm sorta around the pillow... While sorta on my side. It's comfortable. xD

I haven't actually heard of any corelation of Lucid dreaming while sleeping in the Freefaller position. Are there any LD'ers or WIld'ers that can sleep on thier stomachs and still achieve the levels?

I sleep in the Freefaller position and this is normally the only way I achieve Lucid Dreaming; I've tried on my back but that's very uncomfortable. I belive I've had several successful wilds sleeping on my side which isn't too bad but when I wake up I always find myself lying on my stomache.

Totally freefaller. I can't sleep unless my head is turned and on its side.

I kinda sleep in the fetus, but I don't curl up that tightly.

I also have to have a pillow between my legs - a habit I've had since I was a child. Without the pillow, it makes me feel uncomfortable and I tend to then go to the free fall.
For that reason alone, my bed is stuffed with more pillows than it should be.

I have yet to experience sleep paralasys while on my side. but when I expierement with wild, my body always seems to go into SP when I am in the soldier position.

A combo of Foetus and Soldier. I like to face the ceiling so I don't wake up with a stuffy nose.
It's stupid, but when I was a kid, I really didn't like the idea of all the boogers in my nose rushing to one nose while I sleep, so I slept face up, and I guess the habit has lived out to this day.

But I do thrash a lot in my sleep, I know that.

      Fetus-yearner but I'd rather be a soldier-starfish. I think. I could never be a free-faller.

I wonder if it makes a difference for LDing. I've tried laying on my back for as long as I can, and this is the way I got my one (or possibly two) successful WILD, but I never can stand it for very long and I turn on my side. One weird thing, I can only do FILD while on my right side, with my left hand under the pillow. I can't seem to put my right hand in the correct position when I am on my left side. I go back and forth between wearing ear-plugs and not. (I sleep and LD better but I am afraid of missing something like a burglar, fire, etc.)

Probably more than you wanted to know. But I wish I could figure out the best position for LD.

wow! lots of options. I'm not really sure because I have a mix, I know that I toss and turn alot but the most comfortable for me is the " Foetus" but the one I think I fall asleep as is the "yearner."

I probably sleep with the foetus. I find that's most comfortable for me, but only very occasionally I might use the starfish...I'm not sure.

I'll try out those others though. The log looks really uncomfortable, wouldn't that cut the circulation in your arm? haha

Wow, that's exactly the same as me, except im not gregarious. I too go to sleep as freefall, and wake up as soldier. Sometimes its weird, because i wake up and think; "how did i get like this?"

Usually i have one arm under the pillow and the other like an 'L' shape pointing to the wall behind my head.
And like the previous freefaller (in the thread) i keep changing my head from side to side, untill i fall asleep.

I just cant go to sleep on my back, sooooo uncomfortable, so i have trouble with WILDs.

Okay time for this one to resurface.

My sleeping style has changed over the years. I find myself more comfortable now in the Foetus position and it seems when I fall asleep this way I'm happen to capture SP more often and I get an increase level of WILD's this way as well. Maybe it's just me but I thought I'd share that.

i'm a wierd mix of the Foetus and the Freefaller but not really either one...

i sleep on my right side but turned so that i'm almost on my tummy...my left leg gets thrown over a pillow and my right leg is straight...my left arm gets wrapped around a stuffed kittycat and my right arm goes straight up under the pillow to dangle off the head of the bed...if i can't fall asleep in that position then i turn over and go for the mirror image in the other direction...

i always fall asleep and wake up in one of these two positions but i'm told that i become a Soldier at some point during the night and snore like an old man...that's super attractive ...
