Thread: General LD experiences and Dream Guides?

A dream guide is a character in a dream that supposedly knows alot more about you than any other character, and can help you in the dream to learn more about yourself and teach you new powers for LD'ing and stuff like that, Personally I don't believe in a dream guide, for all people who do have one, I think its just a smart DC that is a reflection of the dreamers self and I will continue to disbelieve until proven otherwise. And for the second part do you want us to share our lucid dreams or what exactly are you asking?

Like said, a dream guide is a character in your dream that is supposed to be fairly knowledgeable. From what i understand, there are two ways people view dream guides.
1) Just the same as every other dream character, therefore, the same as every other dream character.
2) (This would be Beyond Dreaming) A somewhat spiritual view of it. A 'higher entity' or a higher self?
Supposedly, your dream guide can help you a lot on your dream quests. You could ask what your best induction method is, what they can teach you, and i've also heard you could ask them things about your every day life problems and they would give you the answer best for you (supposedly).
I'm still searching for my dream guide, so everything up there is based on what other people have said on the forums
Any idea what you plan to ask/learn off your dream guide?

NNOOOOO FKLJSADDKFSKJ I just took a while and wrote a loong response and as soon as I hit post my laptop screen went black and after a few minutes it turned off. Thank you both for respondling. From what I have seen including your responses it sounds to me as though the Dream Guide is like a connection to your subconcious, as though other DCs are all made up of some thoughts and ideas where as the DG is connected directly... maybe. I was also thinking hat maybe you could give your DG the face that you want? Making it easier to find them. This may be an old and obvious idea but I was thinking if you drew or found a picture and designated that person or thing to be your dream guide than maybe in your dreams when the DG shows up your mind will automatically change its appearance to what you had designate? However, at the same time you may have to meet them before that can happen.

#lawilahd: This will be the hardest part to remember... for the second part I really meant anything. I have seen lots of information about techniques and "how to" posts but I am curious about more. For example DGs and I have heard that it is common for people to have false awakenings or to meet characters in a dream that try to convince you that you are awake. Do you have reaccuring things in your dream that you like to have happen or that happen on their own? I also wonder if dreams ever fight back. By that I mean things like you create yourself a pretty girl to flirt with but suddenly her boyfriend walks in and gets angry or you make yourselfa powerful business mand and then find your building is on fire as if your dream wants to control itself or contradict your actions. Also, do you have a favorite place to visit? Do you often visit the same place of create the same character or do you explore new thins each time? What is your favorite dream power? What are some things that you would suggest others to do or try in their dreams? Anything that stands out to you, anything you would like to share, I would love to hear.

#fOrceez: That is a good question. I have yet to have a vivid lucid dream with much control so I would probably have lots of "newbie" questions like "why are you here" and "What can you tell me?" I would probably ask if there was somewhere I should go or somehting I should do. I know I could do anything but maybe in my subconcious there is a place that I think I should expierience or discover. I would probably ask if there was something I should beware or look out for. Maybe it would cause some crazy or fun drama or mystery to figure out. I would ask if there was anything the DG wanted. Take it somewhere that would make it happy or give it what it wanted. To make my dream companion happy would make my experience with them that much more enjoyable. What about you? Do you have any questions that you plan on asking?

That sounds like a great idea Well, i think dream guides are something more than just subconscious (if that's what our dreams ever are). I want to ask my dream guide what my best induction technique would be, for more lucid dreams. What tips they can give me to becoming lucid more often. And i'd like them to teach me to find inner peace to an extent. I imagine my dream guide to be very wise, adventurous and very pride-bound for some some (like samurais?). I really want to go on adventures in my lucid dreams :3

Hmm. Good idea. You have given me even more to think about. I will be sure to dedicate some pages of my book to Dream Guides and make sure I write your ideas in there for me to think over.

Lol Im still trying to meet mine Ive tried in about 6 lucid dreams. Ive gotten close and I may have met mine! just gotta keep lookin'. whatever that doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

I also think the dream holding you back part by interfering with what your trying to do is part of your subconscious that believes what your doing is a wrong thing, even though its ad ream and wont harm anyone/anything. The things we wouldn't do in waking life are sometimes eluding us in our dreams because we still believe they are things we shouldnt be doing, until you get over that, you wont be able to do those "things"

I have suspicions that i may have met my dream guide before, but I just need a confirmation.

# Aero: I am sure you will meet your Dreamguide. Do you have anything in specific you hope to get out of it?

#Lawilahd: I have not experienced it and have yet to have the chance. I was just wondering. I think it could maybe bring a fun challenge as long as it did not happen often. What you say makes sense though.

Finding them again and asking a simple question "Are you my dream guide?" If they give you a stupid question, then it's a normal dream character, but i suspect i've met my dream guide before and as i interacted with her, the conversation was..

"I've been waiting a long time to reach you"
"Do things with Dreamviews help?"
"It certainly makes things easier"

I know it wasn't a proper confirmation, but i'm very curious as to who this girl is and I want to meet her again. Pity my recall's been absolute crap due to school the past few weeks.

Wow. It definitely sounds like she knew more than the average DC. I really hope you find her again soon. It sounds promising.
