Don't stress over it - anxiety is the wrong frame of mind to approach this with. In dreaming it's all about confidence. |

Yet again I am anxious about WILD.... How am I supposed to stay half awake and half asleep? By just focusing on my breathing will i be able to achieve it? Also when focusing on my breath and i slipped for a second like i begin thinking of something else will i be able to resume where i left in my WILD progress? |

You don't. A common misconception with WILDing is that one is to remain awake and expect a dream to form in front of them - this is not the case. When you attempt to WILD, your prime goal should be to fall asleep and remain aware of what's happening - not stay awake. Learn to recognise the steps you go through when falling asleep normally and observe it all with a small amount of awareness; this will aid you immensely when trying to go all the way while simultaneously retaining your mind. |

It is a good thing if your thoughts start slipping and you lose count. This is a good sign that you are falling asleep, and getting closer to the dream. As graves said, you are not trying to keep yourself awake. You just need to remain slightly aware of some tiny thing while you fall asleep. Maybe you pay attention to a random image that pops into your head. Maybe you hold onto a simple visualization or memory. You just need some thought that will work as an anchor as you fall asleep. |
