      cant remember dreams?

      so i started a dream journal recently, and since i started it, i havent been able to remember my dreams. well, actually later in the day something usually triggers me and i remember a very vague fragment of the dream, which i r=write down, but i dont know if this will improve my dream recall. any suggestions as to when i should go to bed or anything i should do so i can remember my dreams?

      There are a few things you can do to improve your dream recall.
      1. Keep a regular sleep schedule If you go to bed at different times every night then you can't get a good sleep cycle and will wake up during random sleep phases making unlikely that you will remember. Try to go to bed at the same time everyday, even on weekends.
      2. Keep a day journal While you're laying in bed write down the days events from start to finish in the same notebook you use for your dream journal, it helps your brain practice short term memory.
      3. Lucid aids There are a host of lucid aids that serve a variety of purposes, many of which are to increase the vividness of dreams and your ability to remember them.

      Although I've only had one lucid dream so far, I have somewhat decent dream recall skills. I always remember at least one dream a night, sometimes upwards of five or six dreams. The past few nights I have been remember an average of 3 or 4 dreams which is a bit more than 1 or 2 a night. The only thing I have done differently is listen to a certain song before going to bed. I don't think its one of those special songs with binural beats, but maybe it is. Its called "Levels" by Avicii. I can not post a link because I haven't been a member for 7 days yet, but if you just search it on Youtube it has over 18 million views.

      I listened to it, it might actually have a binaural beat in the background. Binaural beats work by playing a different frequency (beneath 1,000hz) in each of your ears that are slightly different, no more than 30hz of differentiation. The two separate sounds create a pulse (when listened to with stereo headphones) that have a range of desirable effects based on the difference in the two sounds. A 6hz separation between the two is the one associated with lucid dreaming.

      Transient resumed it pretty much. Some other small tips that might help:

      - Recall isn't meant to be like a stable line. It improves in the course of time, especially if you keep a steady routine of waking up and trying to remember your dreams. At some point, for stress or other reasons that you might even do not know about, recall can go down, but if you stick to it you get the habit of recalling at least 1 dream per day
      - If you're doing WBTB or waking up in the morning with an alarm, make it so the tone is calm (so not some rock-n-roll music). If you can, also make it so you don't have to move to turn it off.
      - If you make an effort to recall the dream, then it will hold to your mind once you catch it. That means that you should lie still in bed until you're absolutely sure you remember as much as possible, and only then move to write it down. Details vanish at an astonishment rate
      - Dream signs are great ways to have a good recall. Normally 2-3 elements (can be persons, places, objects) usually tend to appear in your dreams with a high frequency. Once you figure out which, you can always think of them when you try to remember dreams (was I with this guy? Was I in this place?). Sometimes they can be the key for triggering the memory of the dream.
