      First attempt weirdness...

So.... I tried to LD for the first time last night, and I went in expecting no results. So, I go to bed and put on some binaural beats, which I at least hoped would produce a dream (I havent dreamed in a while....) So, I count down from 100, and between each number I repeat "I will lucid dream." and once I got to around 50 my fingers went completely numb ( not pins and needles) and I couldn't move them. I told myself not to freak out and I stayed calm. Around 30 my breathing involuntarily changed rapid and uneven and it felt like my blanket was extremely heavy (again, no freaking out). So, I eventually fell asleep and in my dream... I was trying exactly what I had been doing before I fell asleep, but I saw vivid swirls of color when my eyes were closed and thought to myself " I hope no one wakes me up, this is cool" then in my dream I fell asleep and began to dream without lucidity. Then knocking, which was occuring inside my dream, turned to the reality of someone knocking on my actual door and I woke up. But I journaled it and everything... So any ideas as to what was going on or if I was doing anything wrong? Thanks

It might have been sleep paralysis, but if it really was SP, you should've stayed still and you would have entered a dream shortly. Next time you think you are in SP, stay passively aware, don't focus too much on what your feeling, and do not try to move anything at all, you will feel a shift or a change in something, and that will be your sign that you have entered a dream and are free to get up and move without breaking the SP and waking up. feel free to pM me if you have any other questions.
