      Antidepressants and Lucid Dreaming

Hey all, I've been on Paxil for 4-5 months now for my moderate anxiety, and since then, I've been having the most vivid dreams, but I've been unable to perform a WILD at all.

It's like my body just won't let me get to that state in between waking life and sleeping.

Is there any chance that my medication is interfering with this, or am I just psyching myself out?

      Thanks!

Hey I started a thread about this too, but nobody replied! I've been on an anti-depressant (Elavil) since August for anxiety and since then my dreams have been extremely vivid. I would say that it IS the medication because mine did the same. Although for the past month or so I have had constant nightmares, and if they're not nightmares I can't remember them at all :/. Though I think it may be because of stress and other life issues even though everything is going mostly great. Here's the full text to my thread =)

      "Elavil (Amitriptyline) Causing Lucid Dreams-

Long story short, I recently had my first x attack due to extreme stress/anxiety (I started TWO schools this month!) Also being why I haven't been on since August 3rd. ANYWAYS, the doctor prescribed Elavil (Amitriptyline) an anti-depressant. It's at a very low dose (10mg) to start me out. Last night after taking it, I was laying in bed and about 30-40 mins of resting I started hearing LOUD whispers/giggling. As soon as I realized what was happening they stopped. Shortly after I was then inside my dream. Please refer to my latest DJ if you're curious what happened in it. Long story short it was a VERY vivid lucid nightmare. And this is actually the first nightmare that woke me up with a racing heart in a LONG time. I was wondering if there was any way to turn this around and make them pleasant dreams. To be honest I haven't tried any techniques yet when I went to bed due to my stress/anxiety I was having. I would like to hear opinions/inputs. Thanks!

TL;DR: Elavil (Amitriptyline) causes lucid nightmares. Any ways of turning them into pleasant dreams?"

Also, I asked my doctor about this recently and he said that the medicine can definitely alter my dreams as it's altering my mental state (or something along those lines, I forgot exactly what he said) but he believes me 100% when I told him about it.

Certain SSRIs can inhibit REM sleep which may make WILDing a bit harder than normal. I was on them for a while and found that my WILD/SP induction count dropped like a rock, but once I went off them, it's a bit easier to induce the episodes again.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
