      Was I close to SP(sleep paralysis)

      After reading about the WILD technique I decided to try it out for myself. So I'm laying down and im keep as still as possible with eyes close counting 1. I am dreaming 2. I am dreaming all the to 99 then I restart. As I'm on my 3rd set of counting I begin to see white lights and my body began to shake and I could feel my surroundings starting to fade. At this point I kind of felt as if my breathing started to become somewhat shallow and my heart began to beat rapidly and this concerned me because I have anxiety and feeling normally is what I experience during a panic attack. I ended up opening my eyes because it starteled me, im still feeling shaky. Was this a stage of WILD/SP?

      I'd like to say his hasn't discouraged me an I still want to try and take it further.

      Indeed it was! Sounds like you were experiencing the first stage of actually being in SP. The lights/shaking is a part of HH/HI (Hypnagogic Hallucinations/Imagery). Next time what you should start doing is to control your breathing and just relax. I also used to get anxiety attacks and as someone that used to experience anxiety, the best advice i can give for that is just to focus on controlling your breathing. Take deep breaths and just focus on what your breathing sounds like and how steady it is.

      I've come a long way with controlling my anxiety but the when I experience things that I know isn't normal I tend to freak out. For instance I can't experiment with recreational drugs such as marijuana because of the the feeling of being high, with that said though I really want to lucid dream it's become almost an obsession I just find it fascinating. I'll try and stay calm and focus on my breathing but one more question before I go, as I enter the first stage again do I still count or just focus on that breathing?
