      Sore Muscles after Lucid Dreaming!

Hello Fellow Travellers of the Mind!

Last night I was lucid for what I would consider a long time, perhaps 30 to 45 minutes off and on. Prior to this lucid session, I awoke and got water once around 1230 and again around 330. My lucid dreaming began around 4am or so. I will spare you the details except that I seem to be obsessed with flying as high as I can. Immediately after my lucid dreams, I woke up around 530am to go to work and noticed my muscles were very sore. My arms around my armpits and my thighs. I'm talking sore as if I had a very strenuous workout. Keep in mind I had no soreness both times I woke up earlier. I did no strenuous activity the days before. When I fly, I have been tending to use a swimming like motion. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of anything like this. I dont recall any kind of tightening of my muscles during the dreams. I find it peculiar that it would appear the very muscles I would use in a dream to propel flying would be extremely sore when I awoke. Does anyone have a clue? Ive had several lucid sessions but have not had this ever previously.

Also, prior to this session, I believe I was on the verge of an oobe. My chest became tight and sticky and I think I may have chickened out and instead of launching out of my body I settled into dream lucidity. But this has no bearing on my question, just kind of cool that I almost astral projected. Any Ideas about the soreness? I seem to recall doctors and researchers finding a link but I cannot seem to find it on the net at the moment. Thanks people!

When you dream your brain is still sending signals to your muscles as if you were awake. It's the fact that we're in SP that we do not move, which inhibits movement. However, I am not completely sure if this stops the entirety of the muscles from moving, nor am I sure if all of your nerves are still firing, but this could be the cause. Your muscles could also be slightly moving, almost like twitching, if your brain does not completely paralyze them which can happen.

I wouldn't get worried about it or anything as it likely isn't going to hurt you at all. Just try to see if this keeps happening. Chances are it was just a random/sudden occurence.
