Encountered a bit of a barrier, little help please?

I have been trying to have a LD for half a year now, still no luck. I don't know what to make of this, any suggestions? I feel like giving up, but I know I shouldn't.

Don't give up. You have your entire life to try to have lucid dreams. If it comes down to taking a break for a little while, then that's completely understandable. In fact, it is sometimes taking break from trying so hard (and being so anxious about them) that causes you to have spontaneous lucids.

What methods are you using? What kinds of experiences have you had?

I use methods like WBTB and some WILD methods, but I still haven't been able to induce SP. but last night/ the night before, I was on the verge of becoming lucid, even though I didn't realize it at the time. I was literally on the mirrors edge of becoming lucid. I have Aspergers syndrome, so I have been thinking that it might be hindering my progress. But I still will keep trying, I just need a little guidance towards the right path to lucidity.

Yeah, keep at it. I could imagine that Aspergers could possibly hinder progress, but I'm sure you could work through it, eventually. Maybe relax a while and take your focus off of being so active with it. Just continue to practice awareness, and maybe try some light MILD induction, before you fall asleep. Other than that, don't strain yourself on it too much for now. If you are beginning to feel yourself getting close to lucidity, then that is definitely a step in the right direction.

If you haven't succeeded in WILD'ing yet, you should give DILD and MILD a fair shot. Try DILD and MILD out, and like Oneironaut said, don't give up! Believe in yourself.

I was 9 months before I even had one short little lucid. Then it took me another 3 before I had another. I had a few more after that but they were all random and not caused by me doing an actual technique to try to induce them.

What I'm saying is, taking a break does help usually, BUT if you take too long a break it can hinder your progress. I took a break for a week and my recall went down to nothing, so be careful.

Also doing techniques could be whats causing your problems. Maybe just try going to bed with the intention to lucid dream, but not actually trying to. As in don't try to have one, but remember that is it your goal each night.
