      Unhappy Not so vivid dreams.

      Hiya!

So I've been reading around a little and hear about how people are amazed how real and vivid their dreams are and I'm feeling left out. All my dreams obviously not real when I'm lucid. Not because of there ridiculousness but because the quality of my senses are so limited. I find that sent as a whole is not present. Often there is no sound in any of my dreams. I only have touch when I concentrate on it and i find it rather limited. Then there is my vision. Its rather hard to explain but its not even close to the clarity I have in waking life and I don't have good eyes by any means.

I was wondering if this is normal at all? Also is there anything I can do about this?
Also I'm an inexperienced Lucid dreamer, only had a few and short ones at that.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any responses.

I'm not too experienced either but do you keep a dream journal? I think dream recall is very important in recognizing dream patterns so you can more easily tell when you're dream and can go lucid. I've just started my dream journal too and I can totally relate to you in having my dreams not very vivid. Just my 2 cents! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! Sorry to hear your having the same experience. I have a dream journal but I've stopped using it. I never got into the habbit of writing my dreams down after words. I was always to sleepy >.<

The problem is most likely dream recall. You think your dreams aren't vivid, while in reality you're just forgetting so many details that it's not the dream itself that's vague, but your memory of the dream.

I have the same problem as you and don't keep a dream journal for the same reason as you (but planning to start one very soon). I'm convinced that (at least in my case) this is the reason why my lucid dreams aren't OMGAWESOME yet.

I actually tested this in one of my dreams. I walked outside my house and tested all senses: I had very clear vision, I could hear birds chirping, I felt plants and sniffed them. I told myself multiple times: "when you wake up you'll remember that your lucid dreams are really vivid".
When I woke up, I couldn't remember sound nor smell nor feeling anything. But I did remember that specific thought I had.

Actually in my experience I've noted the lack of vividness while dreaming. I always have to concentrate to have any sense outside of sight. I cant really say for sound though as I almost never have dreams involving sound. It does make feel better to here I'm not alone Hopefully there's a way for us to get some more vividness in our dreams. I do agree though that a dream journal would probably help.

I'm dealing with a huge lack of vividness myself. My dreams are dark and blurry and hard to recall. I hope this will better in time, but I have noticed that apple juice works like a charm!

Uh, generally the whole realness improves with practice, its just that people like to post more about the cool-vivid ones so thats why you read about those more.

I feel that my dreams at times leave me feeling despair and down. I wonder what it was about.
