Failed.. I couldn't get into SP or fall asleep after 30 mins.. I'll try again tonight with like 5 or 6 hrs of sleep and staying up for 10 mins, gotta go to bed early.

Definitely helps to do WBTB later in the night, 6 even 7 hours after falling asleep can work pretty well. don't worry that you might not have enough time to become lucid, if you do become lucid, it will happen pretty soon after your first dream begins. Plus when you do wake up, you will have the memory fresh in your head, as opposed to if you had to fall asleep again.

Also learn how to get to sleep really fast, usually what I do is focus on my feet passively and without too much force. This will result in, every time your mind reverts to higher order thinking it will remember this anchor and instead of waking up fully, it will focus on that simple task. It is sort of how WILD works, but focusing on your feet is a very repetitive stimuli, which will begin to fade as your body relaxes, and when that happens you'll fall asleep with it. I've used this to get to sleep at night with great results. If you think you wouldn't mind turning it into a WILD though, focus on your breathing, because it involves a little more stimuli, even though you might take a little longer to fall asleep, you'll fall asleep more aware of what is happening.

Ok thanks man, I'll go to sleep earlier , get 6 hrs or so. And then I guess try to go to bed within a couple minutes since obv. 20 mins is too much for me to fall asleep quickly.

I agree with Lucid Dream God's post 100 percent regarding his post on WBTB above.
I found if your WBTB (wake break) was short, say less than 10 minutes then you would go to sleep relatively quickly but you were less likely to have an LD afterwards.
However if your WBTB break was longer, half an hour or so, then this increased my chances of an LD, but it took a lot longer for me to drop off to sleep as I was more alert.
I usually have this break after 5 and-a-half to 6 hrs.
I will have to try this exercise myself, so I can use a longer wake-break time (up to 1hr) without worrying about losing extra sleep.

It is recommended to sleep for 6 hours, then stay up for 30-90 minutes and then go back to sleep right?
What if one goes to sleep at 00:00 AM and naturally wakes up at 05:00 AM? Should the 30-90 minute break be done then at 05:00 followed by going back to sleep?

Regarding both of your questions then generally the answer would be 'yes'. However this should be taken as a guide because what times might suit you might not suit somebody else. It is a case of trying and experimenting to find the best option which works for you.
