Smile Had my first Lucid Experience!

In my dream last night, I remember being in the passenger side of a vehicle, my little brother got behind the wheel, backing us off the conveniently located cliff Right friggin behind us.. We fell, a long ways, and hit the ground. I got out fine, he disappeared. I was in some dark woods, pulled my phone out to call my dad, it went to his voicemail without ringing, so I looked at my phone, I must have noticed the time change really quickly because I became aware that I was dreaming! I attempted spinning around while rubbing my hands, and told myself that I was going to be in my room. When I stopped and opened my eyes, in one eye I still saw the dark woods, while in the other eyes I saw the orange of the walls in my room. I then woke up with my head shaking side to side. Did I get too excited perhaps? Or maybe I rushed straight into stabilizing the dream without stopping to feel the grass or admire my surroundings?
      Help please!

Hi hawkeye, you could have got too, excited but also when you have your very first lucid dream it can be very short. Next time instead of trying to make yourself be somewhere else just admire the surroundings you are in. Just stop and touch things, listen and take in any smells. From there have a wander around your dream scene, just enjoy that place to start with. When you have had a few then try going to other places. As exciting as it is try not to go so fast in things you can do. Try to maybe hover on the spot in the scene your in and from there try and go higher then fly. Go gradual with each lucid that way they will last longer. Once you have smelt and touched in your present dream scene then go on to rubbing your hands together and calling "clarity now". To be honest I would leave the spinning round for now, it can cause the dream to collapse when your new to lucid dreaming, just stay with the hand rubbing and congratulations on your first lucid , may you have many more

Thank you Angie, I will try that. I'm hoping to recall the dream from last night and become lucid again. I had many lucid experiences as a kid, being able to wake myself from bad dreams. But when I got into it a month ago, I found myself trying too hard, instead of just letting my thoughts flow like that of a river. Once I let my thoughts wander, rather than trying to control them, and meditated before I fell asleep, I was able to have a lucid experience. I'm looking forward to more in the future!
Thank you for the kind words, and blessings to you!!

I agree with angie, it may have been over-excitement, but still, congratulations on your first lucid dream!!

And like she said, calming things can really help you stay in the lucid dream longer if you are getting over-excited. Like absorbing your surroundings and touching things. Even better is to look at your hands while you do these stabilization techniques. Looking at parts of your body while you're lucid really helps you lock in your form, sustaining the dream. Especially if it starts out kinda fuzzy.

      Good luck, and happy dreaming

Congrats on your first lucid dream. Even many experienced lucid dreamers will still have dreams in which they wished they could have done or tried something different. In my opinion there is no right or wrong, it's just a world of exploration from which you can learn from. Now that you feel that perhaps you could have done something different, that means that next time you will. And as progress happens you'll begin to see new discoveries opening up.

      You've just opened the door. ; )

Thank you Ophelia and DreamInception! I noticed that after you stop trying so hard and just let your mind do the work that it works better. I've got all the information I need to stay Lucid and try different things in a Lucid Dream, now it's just a matter of Becoming lucid. Once I become lucid I believe that I can do pretty much anything that experienced Lucid Dreamers can. Thanks for the replies Everyone, I enjoyed reading them! Happy Dreaming to everyone, and blessings to All!
