Scientists Create a Lucid Dream-inducing sleeping mask

      "link"

In short, this mask guides the brain into Lucid Dreams unconsciously with LED light patterns and pauses.
So basically, those who can't naturally induce lucid dreams can now visit Dream World whenever the please to fight all the bad guys the want. Have we crossed the line?
      Opinions?

How is this crossing the line? Finding better ways to acheive lucidity is a major goal of this forum

The mind is more clever than that, honestly. It may work for some, but things like homologous association, etc., can make it even more tedious to induce lucidity.

      EDIT:

      Skills required

My guess is the mental discipline required to develop your skills after you LD are similar to the discipline required to LD in the first place. So, might as well start out right. Seems like swimming with floaties all the time.

So basically it's the same as the REM dreamer and the other masks, nothing new there

I like how they act as if this is the first dreaming mask ever made. The article made it seem like they are genius's. It isn't really a new idea at all.

However, I do really like the look and design of it! It also looks like it will be cheaper and more comfortable than any other dream mask I have seen. I have been wanting a dream mask for a while, just to test it out. If they sell it for under $100, I will most likely be getting one. Thanks for showing us

Eh, could work, but it's not totally a new idea is it? The article praises them way too much.

But the design is nice, the concept is fairly simple, and it's *cheap* (college student, go figure ).
'The petals dance through the wind,
The crimson blood shimmers on the snow,
The shattered heart weeps of hidden sorrow.
And over a pure white sky,
      rises a black moon.'

that is really cool. Now all we have to do is separate lucid dreaming from the movie inception in the public eye

      Seriously!

Also, I guess Stephen LaBerge forgot to get a patent on his Nova Dreamer!

And for what it's worth: I bought a Dreamlight, the NovaDreamer's granpappy, in about 1992, and I think it did more than this mask does.

Finally, a caveat: these masks DO NOT induce lucid dreams! They provide signals to a properly prepared dreamer that the dreamer must catch, interpret, and then, on her own, realize she's dreaming... you still must know how to LD, regardless of what the advertiser claims. These devices can be handy aids to LD'ing (though all mine ever did was wake me up), but they are not really much of a shortcut. Especially when the hardest part about LD'ing is staying there, not getting there; this mask does nothing for that.

...Seems like a lot of money to spend on something you could do just as well on your own.

...a device that powers 6 LED's costing more than a mobile phone, yeah, no.
The "programmable features" are comparable to the avarage discount bicycle lamp.
