First attempt, failed 3 reality checks in 3 different dreams

So I just learned about DILD technique and reality checks. This is how my first attempt went.

      - Went to sleep, entered dream, failed reality checks(palm, finger count), dream went on, woke up.

      - Went back to sleep, entered dream, failed reality checks(palm, finger count), woke up.

      - Went back to sleep again, entered dream, failed reality checks(palm, finger count), went on with the dream which turned into 2 dreams, then woke up.

So I went to sleep 3 different times, entered 3 different dreams, and failed my reality checks in all of them. Is that normal, waking up over and over and repeatedly failing reality checks? I plan on doing the nose pinch RC next.

No that should not happen three times in a row, and isn't too reliable...definitely use the nose pinch always

This means that you should use a different reality check that will work better for you. Some reality checks just don't work too well for certain people. It's also possible that you're not putting enough effort into it. If you're just doing it casually without much thought then it's pretty much useless. You have to really question your reality and expect the reality check to work.

The nose pinch reality check is one of the most reliable ones, though I personally don't like it.

Well I actually just learned about all this stuff an hour or two before I went to bed last night. So I quickly started doing RCs before I fell asleep. That probably has to do with it.

The only exercises I did were a couple RCs between dreams. I was only awake for a couple minutes before falling asleep again.

The standard reality checks do not work for every person. I have never succeeded with the hand-based ones myself. I had to develop my own RC that worked for me.

Of course, you just started...it could be the elements entered your dream from the reading but you were never really lucid. Are you highly susceptible to suggestion?

Autosuggestion might work better for you. http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/autosu...thread-131417/

Go through your dream signs. You know, the common elements that show up in your dream that would only happen in a dream, such as being somewhere naked or taking a school test. Use those elements to trigger lucidity, and if they show up often they can become your own reality check.

You should definitely change your RCs. Try nose-plug and some RC involving dream changeability (reading, clocks) instead.

When an RC fails for me I usually wake up at night and imagine the RC working in the same cirumstances. Maybe worth a try?

I'm a little hesitant to do a reading or clock RCs because...wouldn't I have to first find a clock or book in my dream? I thought that might be a problem for me since I usually feel so light headed and discombobulated when I enter my dreams.

I've actually been doing mantras, like saying over and over "this is a dream" when I do my RCs. I heard that would help, and it's sort of similar to autosuggestion right?

I wear a watch all the time for RCs. And reading... I do this RC when I observe my surrounding and notice a label or whatever. When you observe your surrounding, it is important to raise your awareness. After you successfully accomplish RCs in your dreams a few times, it will be easier to become lucid next time IMO.
