      How extend time in lucidity?

recently iv been doing WILDs and DILD's but i seems to be getting caught up in my breathing, and the breathing pattern breaks where i have to take over and as soon as i try to control my breathing i seem to wake up.

What technique do people use to get the automatic breathing pattern happening? is it just matter of attention? as in keeping attention away from breathing and just keeping in on the dream landscape? does it matter what position your sleeping in?

also like the concepts explained in Inception the movie, does going into a dream from a dream slow down time more where 1 minute of real life time translates into 1 hour dream time etc? can you maintain lucidity as long as you want (provided nothing external wakes you up) by just maintaining focus/attention on the dream scape while maintaining awareness of lucidity?

In dreamtime people usually percept time at almost the same speed as real life, secondly it is not possible to go into a dream through a dream it is still one dream. You cannot maintain lucidity for as long as you want however you can chain lucid dreams using the DEILD technique. Eventually it always comes to an end however.

As dutchraptor said you can't go from a dream into another, deeper, dream, but you can experience what are called false awakenings, though you have no control over them. They're basically waking up into another dream, so unlike inception going further down into dreams, you're coming up into dreams, though time perception is a different story. Some people do what's called time dilation where you make time go by slower in a dream so that if you take a 10 minute nap you could have a dream that lasted, say, 20 minutes. Some claim to have done this for years intentionally but I find that about 5x normal time is where I draw the line, but you're free to make your own conclusions.

As for the breathing problem just focus your attention elsewhere. Once you become lucid focus on your RC, then your stabilization, then whatever you're doing so you don't think about your breathing. When you're doing something in waking life like playing a sport you aren't really thinking about your breathing since you have other, external stimuli, but when you're laying still trying to fall asleep it becomes something you control. Just use the same concept in a dream and you should be fine.

yeh i have read alot about that because iv had dreams where it felt like 10 hours but only like 30 min had gone past, so my theory is if it happens unintentionally then it must be possible to do it intentionally, matter of learning/practicing. Also if it is possible then i dont think there can be a limit on it as into how much. Maybe the real world is there and what we call real life is supposed to be a dream but weve been conditioned to accept this as reality, due to the greater powers/possibilities in "dream life"

If I think I get what you're saying, you're wrong. A lucid dream must end because once we are fully rested our body doesn't go into REM until the next evening.
