      Different Every Time

Hey guys, i dont know about anyone else but for some reason i have noticed that whenever i dream, i rarely dream about places that i have been or know. They ALWAYS seem to be places that i have just invented and it is really annoying cause im not sure how i can start to dream about places that i am normaly at.

      Thanks

If it bothers you while lucid dreaming, then there a some guides under "Dream Control" about how to change your location. I don't think there is much more you could do to change it during non-lucid dreams though.

I can not speak for everyone, but I think many members start the dreams in familiar locations, like their bedrooms or schools. I sure do start more of them in familiar places than not. Normally a simple way to get some where is to lie to yourself out loud. Simply state that something is true and act as if you believe it. So, when you find yourself in a weird building, say out loud, "oh, this is that new building right next to my school" and walk out the door.

I'm not quite sure why this is annoying, Craymat. Is there a reason you must start to dream about places you are normally at?

For what it's worth, I almost never dream of familiar places (and, oddly, when I do, I'm never able go become lucid). Yet, strange though the settings might be, lucidity, creativity, and adventure are never a problem.

      ... Just wondering.

Do you mean that you're having trouble finding dream signs, since you always dream about different places? Because in that case ... it doesn't always have to be a familiar place that cues you. It could be an object that appears in your dreams. For example, if you have a lot of dreams that include staircases, every time you see a staircase (in both your dreaming and waking life) you could perform a reality check and that could be your key to becoming lucid. But maybe I'm misunderstanding your question...?
