The common wisdom of the forum is to practice without supplements.
That doesn't mean they aren't useful or can't help. We actually have a whole section devoted to the matter.
To start your practice most people would encourage you to go without, learn your sleep schedules and dream recall habits and improve them to match your goals before trying any supplement.
If you are recalling three to five dreams a night and have a lucid at least once every couple months then I would express no concerns with trying supplements as a beginner. Some people would say go ahead right now. The choice is really up to you.
