What Is the key to lucid dreaming? Tips?

What is it going to take for a person to realize that they are dreaming? I usually do the wbtb technique I can only recall one time that the dream felt real but it wasn't lucid. Is there a such thing as lucid dreaming at night? If so how can u? Is that when rem is happening? Can u give me tips? I'm re starting a dream journal I started yesterday I'm going to start writing my dreams down. I need tips though

      Hi Minigirl!

Those are all good questions. To have a lucid dream, there are two main techniques. One, when you realize you are dreaming when having a regular dream (DILD), and the other one, when you fall asleep concsiously, so you enter a dream while aware (WILD).

Main areas that will help you attaining lucidity are keeping a dream journal, practicing daytime awareness, reality checks and mantras.

Please start with this Beginners guide. It will give you and idea about the basics.
More tutorials are in DV Wiki.. Once you decide on your induction technique, read up about it in more detail. Generally, DILD is recommended as a good technique to start with, since WILD is more technical.

      Happy dreams

In my opinion the key to having a lucid dream is positive thinking. I can't tell you how many times I've had lucid dreams sheerly because I knew I was going to have one. Once you have your first lucid you will understand how easy it is to become lucid if you really want it.

There is no key for lucid dreaming...unless you make your own.

Try to read this post, this guy has a bullseye approach to lucid dreaming that I strongly relate to, and he's very experienced. Maybe you can get some insight with his topic

The key to lucid dreaming is motivation. Find a technique that is right for you and sticking with it. Research it, read different tutorials, find out what you need to do, and do it. Stick to that technique, do not switch around.

Yes there there is such a thing as lucid dreaming at night. Click this. It explains all the basic techniques and how to do them.

During the night we go through two stages of sleep: NonREM and REM. Dreams generally occur during the REM stages of sleep. Your REM cycles are shorter when you first fall asleep but the longer you sleep, the longer your REM cycles last. That is why with the WILD technique, it is recommended you wake up later in the night.

Read the beginner's guide to lucid dreaming for more tips and info. I hope this helped. If you have some more questions, just ask. Good luck!
