      Lucid nap, DILD or WILD?

So I just started working and I wake up every morning at 5am and I work till 5pm. So when I get back home I'll be exhausted. Which means I can easily take some naps everyday throughout the week. I've heard taking naps increases the chance for having lucid dreams alot. So I guess I'm going to take a nap somewhere between 6pm and 9pm. Which is in the evening ofcourse xD. So my questions are:
1)Do I get into REM if I would take a nap in the evening?
2)If so, which technique should I use, DILD or WILD?

      Thanks alot x

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

hmmm if your waking up at 5 and having a nap more then 12 hours later I don't think you'll be in REM anymore. If you can manage to take earlier naps it would increase your chances of success I would think. As for what to attempt, I would go for the WILD, so even if you fail and fall asleep you still have a chance at a DILD anyway :p

Sounds like a tough work schedule! Does this have you actually getting home at 5 pm or do you still have a commute in front of you after that? Tough either way.

I wonder how good of a fit naps are for your schedule. If you need to get up at 5 am, you'd need to be in bed by 9 pm in order to get a full 8 hours of sleep.

I personally find that I need at least an 8 hour chunk of time to get a high percentage of success with WBTB. I'd worry that napping this late might interfere with your ability to employ WBTB during your overnight sleep. If you nap from 6-7:30, it doesn't seem that likely that you'd get to sleep on time.

One of the harsh realities of these long hours is that I don't see a good way to fit both the naps and a nice, long stretch of overnight sleep. Unless you can curl up under your desk during the work day a la George Costanza!

Best of luck, whatever you decide! Although I love naps, I never LD in them, so perhaps that's why I prioritize the WBTB opportunity higher. Some people seem to just LD like crazy in naps, though.

I'm affraid, that a nap 12 hour after you wake up from a sleep would not be a nap. But you can try and it may surprise us all.

But since you have such a hectic schedule, I would suggest you go to bed early (9isch) to get as long of a sleep as possible. That would give you a great chance to DILD. And I would step up my MILD/DILD + big time awareness training.

And if you have time on a weekend, a morning nap is a prime time for a WILD/DEILD. What I do is wake up at anytime in the morning, stay up for an hour and lay down for a nap. Very high WILD/DEILD and even DILD success rate.

Since in the morning you are taking a nap during a time when you are other days awake, your mind is already in a higher awareness state and that's one of the reasons why nap at that time is a good choice for any LD.

If you have not done so yet, WILD class and Dream yoga class in Academy are an excellent source of information for all LDs. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I have had one lucid dream from a 30-40 minute nap. Came as a bit of a suprise but it was still very cool. Although it didn't last very long

Thanks for the advice Gab. I'll just go to bed early (8/9pm) and go for some dilds and during the weekend I'll do WILD/DEILD.
