Do RC whenever you:
1. see your dream sign (if you have one)
2. do something you do often, so you remember to do it, like walking through door. This helps you to remember to RC.
3. see something strange
4. at random time (so you have a chance of becoming lucid at random, not relying on dream sign, or doorway, or anything else.
RC as often as you remember to. But only, if you are able to put some emotions into the process. If you just do RC as a rutine, it will not work. Quality over quantity.
It's best to combine RC with daytime awareness training and mantra. Here is a basic example:
1. You stop in your track whatever you doing during day, ask yourself "wow, am I dreaming?" Consider that for a moment and believe, that you could be in a dream and you don't know, untill you check your surroundings and do RC.
2. Look around and see, if everything is as it should be. Then do RC and expect it to work, because if you were in a dream, it would work.
3. Once you satisfied that you are not in a dream, say a mantra "Next time I'm dreaming I realize I'm dreaming" or "Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming" (if you are using your "looking at hands" RC.)
