      Grrr ahhh. I hate SP.

So for a couple months during the summer I had been practicing lucid dreaming and trying to achieve my first one. I was using different methods. I posted my first SP experience here if you would like to read it.

I've reread the comments that everyone graciously left about how not to be scared, but after that experience, I did continue to write down my dreams but stopped after a couple weeks but I never did practice anymore reality checks or the different methods. Mostly because I was nearing the end of my summer semester of school and I didn't have time, but also because I was afraid of SP.

Last night was the first time since July 7 that I even tried a lucid dreaming method. It wasn't anything much. Went to bed at about 10:40pm and set my alarm to go off around 5am. Woke up, looked at my phone for a few minutes, got out of bed to get some water, and then went back to bed. This all took about 10 min. I know I'm suppose to stay up longer for it to really work, but I was super tired. So I laid on my left side and tried to keep still and kept my mind open and awake. I was drifting on and off from sleep fairly quickly. I could feel the very start of SP where it's almost "preparing" for it; my body felt tingly all over and almost felt as if I could not move or was not allowed to move. I kept a "I will lucid dream" mantra going. Not sure when it happened but all of the sudden I heard this strange music. The white noise I have been playing lately sounds like water and even though I had it on, I questioned if it normally had music playing to it (even though I'm very sure that it doesn't). But the other person that I live with normally gets up at about 5am and also questioned if it was his alarm (but I know normally his alarm is the radio with people talking - not music). I had opened my eyes because my heart had started racing. I know for sure I had never reached full SP, but can audio hallucinations start that early? After a few seconds of listening closely to figure out the source it had died out and coincidentally I heard my friend get up and out of bed and move around. Even awake now I still can't pin point the source. Ugh.

I just wish SP wasn't so scary. It's what's keeping me from trying to practice lucid dreaming right now.

I suggest you try the other techniques, DILD + MILD is extremely effective if used the right way.

If you hate SP, you are in luck, because that was not SP!

The tingling and feeling of heaviness you experienced was normal part of falling asleep process. You have it every night, just don't notice it, untill you try to WILD and keep your mind aware, while you let your body fall asleep.

The music was hypnogogic hallucination. Just one of the many you can have. But not everybody experiences it, or not allways, or not allways the same thing. So during your next attempt, you may not experience any HH.

In either case, just remember, that none of that can harm you in any way. Now that you know it can happen (but most likely will not), you are ready for it, stay calm and continue on with your WILD attempt.

These HH usually last very short time, soldier through it and you will be rewarded. And some of them are actually very pleasant and enjoyable.

But if this still scares you, I suggest you try different methods, like DILD/MILD. It's recommended anyway to start with those, as it's good to have some experience before starting to WILD.

      Hope this helps

Sorry to tell you but you must learn to love SP and all the trippy stuff that happens with it. As Gab said you just have to know nothing can hurt you in any way, it's all in your head. If you have that mindset, your less likely to experience anything scary. good luck

Thanks y'all. The music was actually very pretty, I just became scared because I felt like something else was going to happen that wasn't as pretty. But I will definitely go back and read over those tutorials.

Thank you I will, it just spooked me a bit because I obviously was not expecting it.
