      Random Idea

I was wondering if it is possible to go back to a previous dream you remember with great detail. And just observe yourself as you go through the dream in a 3rd person perspective. Its a random idea but it would seem very cool to do.

Sure you can. In lucid dreaming, literally anything is possible! (I once became a left slipper of a woman -- don't ask haha)

If you want to revisit a certain dream, you can try incubating it. Then once you get lucid, you can do anything from there. You can (with decent control of course) switch to third person and dissociate from yourself and watch it go through the dream. The awesome thing is that if you just watch it and let the dream take its course, it can have a lot of weird surprises.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Yeah, a lot of people use lucid dreaming to reexperience/continue a previous dream. The dream incubation Paige linked is a good one. Check it out! The 3rd person dream is also possible but could be a little tricky. Good luck!

I used to do this all the time as a kid. I thought that if I put my right arm under my pillow and lay on my stomach and then thought about what I wanted to dream, I would dream about that.
And it worked ^-^ I thought about Harry Potter since I was a big Potter-fan and suddenly I was at Hogwarts with Ron an Hermione but I took Potter's place xD
I have never dreamed in third person but if you play lots of third person view games I guess you could visualize it and then dream it.

      Good luck

Visualize the previous dreamscape as you are falling asleep. While you might not end up in the same dream it cam lead to some wonderful dreams... both lucid and not.

      Sure it's possible.

I can say this has happened to me, though it wasn't on purpose. I frequently recall old dreams while dreaming and I can watch them like a TV program or recount them to others.

I've also had it happen in lucids but, as I mentioned, it wasn't on purpose.

I wish you luck in trying!
