is 30 minuts to an hour necessary for WBTB?

when I wake up , depending on how tired I am, I can WILD in just a few short minuts. Once I wake up, I adjust my position a little bit and then I lay back down. soon as I do this, I can suddenly feel the physical sensations of SP(the physical transition state of sleep paralysis, NOT isolated sleep paralysis) getting ready to happen as soon as I rest my eyes. this happends almost instantaneously and I wind up in a WILD fully aware. So is 30 minuts to an hour necessary for this?

I don't think it is completely necessary. The goal is to acquire awareness when you wake up, enough to be retained when you dive into the WILD. The optimum time to stay up for a WBTB varies greatly from person to person, depending on sleeping habits and other personal factors. I think when they say 30 minutes to an hour, they mean that it is the amount of time which usually works for people, and is merely a guideline. But in the end you need to experiment to find out how much time is optimal for you. (Mine is at least 90 minutes even! I have no idea why or how it works)

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Recommended time is from few minutes to an hour. But it varries greatly among people, it can even differ for same person. The goal is to wake up enough to wake up your logic center, and so you can stay aware during the falling asleep process. But not to wake up too much, when your body figures, you are getting up and sleep for that night is over.

For a WBTB you should also get out of the bed, put the light on and do something LDing related. Like read your old dreams, watch an inspirational video, do some mantras and such.

But these are not rules cast in stone, just guidelines. If what you do works for you, you should be doing it your way.

If you can WILD after only a few minutes, then there is no reason to stay up any longer than that. The goal of the entire WBTB is to get you lucid, so if a few short minutes allow you to WILD, then a few short minutes it is
