      Can't WILD. . . WBTB Instead?

Okay. so. I've tried WILD for a little over two years or so.

I've heard about this WBTB, and I'm wondering how it works - and I think it might just be the perfect thing for me.

Sometimes, when I'm dreaming, I wake up in the middle of the dream, and I turn over, and continue dreaming right where I left off, or with a few subtle, sleepy-brained nudges, I can completely change the direction that the dream was heading in.

I've noticed sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night for no reason (probably waking up right after a dream I can't recall), and I can easily slip back into sleep within seconds.

I'm willing to try something new. I really am. I want to be lucid. I crave it, very badly.

      Anybody use this technique?
I'm the drug you crave on sleepless nights, the addiction that rips you apart on the inside - the poison that you would pay millions to possess. Yet when you finally have me, I'll wrap you in silky lies and take you to hell with me, baby.

I can verify WBTB has a great success rate. I get a lot of recalled dreams after going back to bed in the morning, should be better at night =D
My first 2 lucids were from WILD, the other one I believe was a normal DILD, but it may have been from a WBTB
I have become quite interested on the layers of lucidity, and I use them to measure how lucid a dream is. For more information on these layers, click here.

Sounds like you'd be very good at DEILD. You should check it out: http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/dutchr...60/index7.html

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

WBTB is a tool used by virtually any lucid dreamer. That means that WBTB is useful for people who want to DEILD, DILD, WILD, etc. The advantages of performing an WBTB are those of clearing your mind during the night and strengthening your intention of lucid dreaming. Some people medidate or inspire themselves in order to have a DILD, while others relax and prepare to WILD in the middle of the night due it being easier since you fall asleep faster but since you woke up and "cleared your mind" a bit, you're less likely to loose conscious so easily.

I totally agree with paigeyemps, DEILD seems to be the right thing for you. As an extra tip, you can always try to schedule a WBTB to a specific time and wake up every day. That makes it much easier and more likely that you'll wake up on your own and perform DEILD even more easily. Good luck

Trying out MILD? This is how you become skilled at it.

Yup I agree with paige and zoth however I do believe it is important that you give all techniques a try, I myself have almost mastered DEILD and can have 5 LD's a night if I really try. The thing is I don't like being restricted to one method so I'm trying to learn how to DILD again.
I'd say that DILD and DEILD are equally effective however being able to DEILD is just extremely handy because it gives you ultimate control over when to LD and for how long.
      Good luck

@Paige: checking it out now, thank you. :3

@00: Yes, I'm hoping I can train myself to wake up naturally again. Most of the time when I wake up, it's very sporadic.

I did attempt it last night, and oh god, it was not a pleasant experience. Woke up just fine, stayed up for ten minutes (doesn't take me long at all to wake up), tried to go back to sleep. . . Two hours later, still awake. Kept flip flopping over, trying to relax, and eventually I got it to work. . . But I did notice something interesting. I would have snippets of dreams, I would think, but a second later I would get yanked out of them - my brain kept getting all distracted. So based on the first night, I think I'll have to give this some effort!
