First time becoming lucid using DILD... Got a question!

Hey guys, I just had my first lucid dreaming experience.. and I wanted to ask your opionion.

I was having an afternoon nap..

I used the stop, drop and roll technique.. but fell asleep without WILD'ing...

Then I had a weird dream about a theme park... and then I went from that dream into a dream of me sitting on my computer.

I thought I couldnt be on the computer for some reason, and decided to do a reality check by blocking my nose and trying to breath through it.

Obviosly I was dreaming so I could easily breath with my nose blocked... I suddenly new I was dreaming.

Then all of a sudden I leaped out my chair and started yelling at the top of my voice.. I was screaming out of pure excitement...

It was so intesne.. then suddenly everthing became black.. and before I was able to calm down and stabilize the dream.. I was opening my eyes and I was awake again.

I tried to lie still and go back into it.. but no luck...

I'm extremely happy that I even managed to reach this point, as I have been trying for months to lucid dream.

So does anyone have any tips for staying lucid... it was my first attempt so perhaps it just takes more practice.. but Im not sure why i screamed so long and loud...

does anyone have any helpful thoughts that could aid me on my next lucid attempt.

Congratulations

I have the most luck by interacting with the dream right away. Touch things, talk to people, investigate your surroundings.

Congreats on your lucid!

You can try stabilizing, but just having more of them should also help, and try not to get too excited while lucid.

Ok thanks guys... I guess because it was my first time, all my training flew out the window and extreme excitement took over.

It is easy to become excited and start leaping tall buildings. This will result in a rush of adrenaline that will wake you up rather quickly. Learning to do less in a lucid dream is my key to lengthening the experience. I simply walk around (or occasionally fly) and take in the dreamscape while staying as emotionless as possible (although this is very hard to do sometimes) Congrats!!

First of all, well done on the lucid! Each one is progress.

Secondly, when you become aware that you are dreaming you should try to remain calm, getting excited will only wake you up. Take deep breaths then rub your hands together. If you feel the dream fading, you can always shout "CLEAR!". Like Robot_Butler said, you should try and touch a few things and explore the dreamscape.
