      My First Sustained Lucid

Although there have been many times throughout my life that i've been in a dream and realized I was dreaming, I would always instantly wake up. It was only until I heard about lucid dreaming about a month ago that I learned that it was possible not to wake up. After about three weeks of dream journaling, I had a lucid moment, and used the spinning technique, and it worked exactly as advertised. After I realized I was having a stable lucid dream, I began running around frantically like a little kid. One interesting thing was that my level of lucidity seemed to be varying greatly, and I had to continue doing reality checks to keep myself fully aware.

After a couple minutes, I was in a room with a swimming pool, thinking to myself "This seems so vivid, what if this is real? I don't want to do anything that would embarrass myself." So I decided to do a physics-based reality check. I picked up a rag that was conveniently on the floor, and simply held it. It suddenly yanked itself upward, as if it was trying to pull me into the air. (Later I plan to use this technique to fly).

Anyways, the dream only lasted for a couple of minutes, because I woke up from excitement. The weird thing was, I was surprised at how I remembered the dream just as badly as any other somewhat vivid dream.

This was a four days ago. For some reason, the last three nights I haven't had much desire to remember my dreams or write them down, so I'm posting this partly to help get my mind focused on dreaming.

      Congrats to your stabilized lucid!

You can have different levels of awareness in a lucid dream, same as with control, details, vividness and everything else. I think you would benefit from some daytime awareness training.

But let me tell you, if you don't have interest in remembering your dreams, you will not have much luck with lucid dreaming. Even if you have one, you may not remember it. So writing your dreams in dream journal helps with recall and it also tells your mind that dreaming and remembering your dreams is important to you.

Besides the tutorials, read as much as you can to get yourself motivated. Good luck and happy dreams

YAY!!! Congrats! It is funny you mention 'What if this is real?" I used to have that thought all the time. How terrible to think you are dreaming and grab some lady's breasts, only to find out you are in real life.
