Making Our Own RCs?

Hopefully, I've put this in the right place.

I'm not trying to say that reality checks are useless for me (or for anyone else), but I am wondering how good of an idea it is to "create" my own RC. Since everything that I expect to happen in my dreams happens, I've started saying to myself, "The walls are going to be blue," or "My dad is going to be in the doorway when I look behind me"--things like that. If it does not happen after I fully expect it to, then I'm much more likely to be awake, but if it does happen, then there's a good chance I'm asleep. After I do that (just in case), I execute one of the more traditional RCs.

Is doing this all right, or should I stop and continue just plugging my nose and trying to force fingers through my palms? I'm going to continue with "regular" RCs regardless, so that might not be a problem.

That sounds briliant to me. The most important thing is to really expect it to happen, no matter which RC you chose to do. I'm all excited now, because I'm gonna add your RCs to my daytime awareness training. Awesome! Thank You!

I think creating your own RCs is actually better than using whatever ones are most popular. Or better than that is, use the ones that are most succesful for you, whether it's your own or someone else's. I've found that what works best for me are my own, and they just kinda fell into place after years of LDing. For me, since most of my lucids begin with me being in my bed, I've noticed certain repetitive elements that I use to RC. One common one is that when I "wake up" in my bed, I find that it's dark outside, even though when I WBTBed a little earlier that morning, it was already light out. So now, whenever I wake up, I check the lighting outside. There are other things too, but I think it's a personal thing, making your own RCs.

Sorry if I worded that all weird, I'm also watching halloween movies lol

Yeah, that would work! Whatever suits you the best! I completely agree with gab. As long as you expect it to happen. If you don't expect it to happen then the whole point of the reality check is useless. Anyway good luck! Let us know how it goes. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Ah yes, it's doing pretty great. I've had three dreams in which I've seen that "Mario pipe" that will take me to the DVA--unfortunately, I end up waking up before I can actually get there. That doesn't bother me, though, since I know lucidity is bound to be around the corner.

Hukif created his own RC and he is a lucid dreamer beast.

I add my own fire RC to the mix of other RCs I do, so that if I do an RC that fails, then the fire will work.
