      Natural lucid dreamer?

      Hi everybody

I heard about lucid dreaming very recently and I began to wonder if that explained a phenomenon I've been experiencing my entire life.

Ever since I can remember I have been able to recognize that I'm dreaming. It does not matter how realistic my dreams are, I always know that I've left my reality and stepped into a dream world.
Because of that knowledge I'm always able to wake up if I find the dream too scary to continue, and once I tried to control the dream, which turned out to work successfully. But I haven't tried it more than once since I want my dreams to be naturally evolving by themselves even though I always know that they're dreams.

I don't know if that's classified as lucid dreaming since I don't take control of the dreams - I'm just always able to tell them apart from reality. I don't even need to make a reality check.

Another thing that confuses me a bit is the whole sleep paralysis thing. I've never experienced sleep paralysis, but in periods I often get that falling down feeling just before I'm about to sleep. Sometimes even when I'm wide awake.

So my question is if all my dreams are lucid dreams or if it's another phenomenon I'm experiencing.

      Thank you

If you can tell it's a dream then you're dreaming, yes it's lucidity

You are lucky to get it so easy, others need to practice for a long time to get one.

You just need to work on Dream control and that's it mate

      Thank you for the help

Another thing I experience is always being in the same Dream World. When I dream I always find myself in the same world as I did in my last dream. There's a small city and all the buildings are the same, there's a forest, a field and I could go on. I would be able to draw a map of this dream world and all my dreams takes place in this map. The world is a mix of all the places I've ever seen. Fx there is a walking street where all the shops I've ever been in are. Because of that it does not seem like the real world, but in a way it seems like my own world, since it's made out of all the things that are most important to me.

Is this a part of lucid dreaming? I remember that in "Inception" one of the reality checks is to try to remember how you got to the place where you are, and if you don't know how you got there, you're dreaming. Is that a fact? Because I often find myself taking the bus, walking, bicycling to get to a place in my dream world.

I've tried to talk to people I know about it, but they all find it very strange. Even one of my friends who's very into dreaming

      Yo.
Yep, that's lucid dreaming, and you are really lucky to do it naturally, many people struggle to even get a single lucid dream.
From what i know, revisiting places in lucid dream is something that many people do, though doing it each time is quite a feat actually.
As for dream control, this might help: Dream Control Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views .

I've always had them naturally, but maybe not as often as you do and I'm not always in the same world so to speak. It seems like our experience is a bit unique. You're fortunate.

Last night I had 2 in the same night, the first time that's happened in years, and I can't say what triggered them. Both were way too short though, maybe a minute. The second time I just started laughing because it was the second one in the same night and knowing made me laugh for some reason. Then I just started flying and flew into the side of a semi, bounced off, and woke up.

Looking back is actually a pretty bad RC. My mind just makes up memories for how I got there.

Like: what? How did I get to the mall? I was just... ... ... riding my centaur across the highway. How could I forget?

This is such a coincidence! I have the exact same thing. Do you also have a complex mythology behid your dreams, like all your dreams are part of a grand story? This happens to me... For example, I have a couple "big baddies" in my dreams like an imaginary incubus, a witch, and an evil presence in the downstairs portion of my house. Everything bad happens down there. Sometimes things drag me down the stairs...

      ....
I drew a map of my dream world too... Hopefully I can recreate it digitally and post it here someday..

They're definitely lucid dreams, since by standard definition a lucid dream is just when you know your dreaming within a dream. But I'd like to note that I've had dreams that are "lucid" by this definition for years, (in that sometimes I knew I was dreaming and could wake myself up if it got too scary--I even formed a technique of counting and such exactly for this!), but when I had my first semi-WILD by using techniques, I have to say that those earlier dreams were nothing in comparison, and I consider them just "normal dreams". This is because, even though I knew I was dreaming, I did not have much control (other than waking up basically), and things were not clear. When I had my first semi-WILD I was astounded to find that the dream world can literally become as vivid and clear as real life, sometimes even more so.

So while those dreams are certainly "lucid", by definition, it's possible that they're not "hyper-lucid", the amazing kind of experience that you get with WILD's and semi-WILD's.

Just thought I'd mention this, since I don't know how vivid these dreams of yours have been.

Here's a page that does a nice job explaining the differences: http://www.hyperluciddream.com/ (I've had level 6 dreams by this ranking, but not level 7)

Dude. My DILDs are normally more vivid. It depends on my sleep schedule. My first hyper lucid dream came from a DILD. I have had one WILD that was I was really aware in. I still manage to somehow not understand what is going on in them completely, but after I stabilize I can remember back to when I fell asleep and have almost all my waking consciousness with me.

Edit: I just noticed that that site has hyper vivid as a spiritual experience. that is a bit weird since the rest seemed more scientific. So I have had a "hyper lucid" dream, but not the spiritual experience. Everything was crazy vivid and clear and more beautiful than anything ever.

That's really neat. For me, unless I do a WILD, or at least a WBTB, even the dreams in which I know I'm dreaming are not very clear. Actually, I'm just talking about past dreams where I knew I was dreaming, when running from a monster or something, because not once have I been able to lucid dream during the night--I've always needed to use WBTB. Which is actually one of my main problems, because I want to have lucid dreams without having to spend so much time on them, doing WBTB, so I'm trying new technique's which will work for me during the night.

Yeah, I noticed that too, but I thought it did a pretty good job explaining the clarity levels, so I figured I'd use it anyway.

No actually not, there are no continuity in my dreams, they just take place in the same world. Well once I had a few dreams in a row that seamed a bit like old Twilight Zone episodes, but as the series they were not a small parts of a story but each individual episodes. They just shared the same sentiment. They were all in black and white and there was a voice over in the beginning - just as the show. I don't know if that's what you mean? But that's the only time my dreams have had a continuity.

It's normal to have dream signs that you see often everytime you start dreaming. Places that are often seen helps you recall and know that you are actually dreaming. I often see that i am in a building or house, or a beach and i already know i am dreaming, no RC needed.

i have just joined and this is very similar to the post i was going to put up, i have been lucid dreaming for years and usually take advantage of it after getting up to the toilite or awaking from a non lucid dream in the middle on the night and have my own method to get back into a new dream or if i happen to remember a previous one that aswell, once in the dreams i can controll them massivelay altho i do get attacks from certain "spirits" that i like to call them, most leave me alone once i tell them its my dream and to go away but sum seem insistant on fighting me and i have to awake myself and induce myself again into another realm. i usualy ask people what year it is or were i am and i have triggers aswell for normal lucid dreams that start without waking up like having lots of money in my pocket or meeting certain "spirits" that i have became very aware of over time that i kno are not in my everyday life altho they sumtimes talk to me while i am inducing after waking up and wait for me to get into the dream then we go have fun. i have also been told to stop doing certain things in my dreams that seemed like sum sort of higher power was not happy with and have become more aware that it might not all just be in my head and i actualy travel to sum other dimension, i have been doing it for years but now i choose to join a comunity and talk about it more. sorry if this was hard to read i just came out of a non lucid very anxiety type dream!

I literally fight with the baddies, i don't tell them to go away because usually they don't want to reason with me and they mean business when i am in their way. May it be ruining my dream or they start getting physical.
