There's a huge problem, one that misses even many lucid dreamer's view in my opinion:

People when are introduced to it still view it as a dream: something they are used only to recall. Now, recalling something never gives you the vivid sensation of living it, it's a shadow, a mere memory, a sample of life. That's why people need their first lucid to get hooked in my view, and this particular point is of major importance if you want to bring someone to it. Unless you show them (somehow, many think the only option is "words can't describe it, you have to experience it" that it's as real as life, they won't understand.

I don't think this is true. I have memories that give me pretty vivid feelings. I can remember how it felt to be there for some of them.

A person can dwell on a memory until it consumes their lives. This can happen to trauma victims, as well as offenders. For offenders though, this causes them to want to relive the act eventually. Afterward, they relive the memory over and over, taking satisfaction in it every time.
      I Dreamed a Dream
In it, saw people I've never seen
      Gone places I've never been
And done things I'd do again.
