      Was this a lucid dream?

      This is how it went:
Woke up at 9.30, decided that I could sleep a bit longer, and fell asleep immediately.
Then I woke up again, it was about 10.15, the sun was shining, but I decided to go back to sleep. I couldn't remember my dreams.

So now I started dreaming some crazy stuff but I didn't question anything, just went with it.

I was alone until I got to my old neighbourhood. Then there was this person M. taking a stroll with me. M. is the son of my landlord and I became suspicious because although I know him, I would never take a stroll with him and talk to him like we were friends. Ever. So I decided to play along and see what happens.

As we were passing by the flat I used to live in, I noticed that the flat looked way different and realised that it wasn't my flat at all. It was another flat, similar to mine, but smaller. Everything else in the neighbourhood was the same. So I tried to see what the address was, and noticed that it's not my old address at all. I became even more suspicious. I asked M. : What happened to the flat that was here? He said he didn't know. I thought that it might be possible that I'm dreaming, but I needed more evidence.

As we kept walking, I noticed that the weather is quite pleasant and warm, the sun was shining, there were a lot of people out there, trees are blooming. And I think to myself, it's winter now, how can this be happening? So I decide to ask M. :What's with the weather? Is it spring yet? He said something which of course was not related to my question. I laughed nervously, and asked: What year is this anyway? Didn't get an appropriate answer. It was almost clear to me that I was dreaming.

Then, all of a sudden, a third person I know, and is actually my friend, appears in the dream. I looked at her as she started to talk to me, and thought: What the hell are you doing here? You're in Austria babysitting. She asks me: How is your brother? I haven't seen him for a long time. I answered nothing because I know she doesn't even know I have a brother. Now I was smiling and asked her what the date is. She said she doesn't have a clue. I kept smiling and asked her once again. My next question was gonna be: How is it possible that you are here? You're in Astria now. After this I was gonna admit to myself that I was dreaming. Maybe I should have done that earlier, as I was suspecting something like that was happening, but I was afraid that once I admit to myself that I'm dreaming I would wake up instantly (it happened before). She said she doesn't know what the date today was.

Then I stopped, didn't ask her about Austria as it was already clear enough for me, and said to myself: I am dreaming. As I stood there, she turned and looked at me, but it wasn't her that was looking at me, because she turned herself into a fat, old woman, dressed in black, with a face white as a sheet, and bloody eyes. Her look was so evil, everything stopped and started to fade away. I tried to move but I couldn't, I was paralysed. Then I decided that I want to quit dreaming, I closed my eyes and inhaled quickly and as deep as I could. It was pretty hard to inhale, because I felt there was something very heavy on my chest, but I made it and woke up. I knew this would work because I have been listening to some audios where the woman who was talking said that I could wake up anytime I wanted if I took a deep breath. I remembered that, I used it, and woke up.

Thanks for reading this long post. So, was this a lucid dream?

Said to myself: I am dreaming

Lucid dream = being aware that you are dreaming during a dream

Congrats! You made your first lucid dream! Get some balloons, pop some champagne and celebrate!

If you have any questions about what to do next you are in the right place.

It was without a doubt a unique experience, one I did not expect because I'm fairly new at this. After thinking about this the entire day, I now regret the decision to wake up. Maybe I should have stayed in the dream and should have tried to deal with that old lady that showed out of the blue. It's my dream after all, I decide what should be in it and what not. But I guess I will try this next time when I'm lucid. Any suggestions how to avoid, or even better how to deal with a dream that turns into a nightmare once you become lucid?

I don't have nightmares, so I can't help you. I have weirdos creep on me when I am lucid though. As well as people attack me. I learned how to fight to stop these. fire and telekinesis work well together.

Yep, it is all about realizing it is a dream and you are aware. Besides this definitional meaning, you can easily tell if you had a lucid dream or not.

Hey! Definitely a lucid dream! Your mind probably changed the girl into the old woman because maybe subconsciously you might be a little scared of lucid dreaming so your mind was trying to snap you out of it (Happens to me all the time!) Next time if you see something scary or negative, try and change it into something positive. The next step after attaining lucidity is actually trying to change things that are happening. Don't overdo it though, because then you'll just end up waking up!
