      Why am I waking up?

Last night I read somewhere that if you drink water before bed, you will wake up in the middle of the night to pee and be able to remember more dreams per night. So I tried it last night and I woke up twice, which is good, however i didn't wake up because I had to go pee. The first time I woke up, I went to the bathroom thinking that it had worked, but I barely peed any so I was confused as to why I woke up. I let it go and went back to bed after recording what I could remember of the dream. I woke up again after another dream I had. I recorded that one after laying in bed for a moment to gather the details in my head. I remembered this one in vivid detail. I'm not sure why I was waking up though. It is important to realize that I am happy about me waking up, and am looking to figure out why I was waking up so that I can do it again. I didn't do any mantras because I was listening to a hypnotic recording to try and fall asleep quicker because I have been having trouble going to sleep (but that's a different story). I wasn't able to fall asleep while he was talking, so I was able to hear that the man speaking didn't say anything about remembering dreams. What could have caused me to wake up?
      Any help is appreciated.

I wake up like 4-6 times a night. It is good for recall, awareness, and vividness for dreams.

You might have just finished a REM and thought that you would have to pee. Everyone wakes up after every REM, they just go right back to sleep normally.

We all wake up after each dreaming cycle which is around 90-100 minutes long. Most of those times you won't remember but if you need to pee you will wake up "for real", if you have the intentions of realising that you're waking up it's the same thing. It's good for recall, but if you want undisturbed sleep try not to wake up, it's not often I don't wake up atleast once a night and the nights I go to bed and wake up when my alarm sounds are very rare and a blessing.
