A have a question about wbtb

Im trying for few months to LD (im not kind of writingInForum member). Im using an iphone app, which collects data while I sleep and I now know that im in first REM phase lets say about 4 hours of deep sleep and it lasts for hour (app on iphone says in graph that im near to awake in that phase). For few weeks im trying to wake up nearly at this time (right before rem starts) and only simetimes i wake up for more than just to turn off alarm. So my sleep phases look every day cca the same. And I want to know if it is good to wake before that REM phase started or in middle of it or after.. Or maybe if its better to wake up before second REM phase. Thanks if you can answers these questions (and after i wake up lets say about 4-5h of sleep im trying to induce dream with SSILD method)

I'd say wake up right before or at the beginning of your rem cycle. I've had luck waking up six hours after going to bed then staying up for a half hour then back to bed. If I don't achieve lucidity I at least get a very vivid, elongated dream (which is still awesome). Good luck!

Your best chance to have a lucid dream is in the very last dream of the night, in the last REM cycle. An ideal WBTB for DILD is to wake up naturally after the second-to-last REM cycle, stay awake for a few minutes, then return to sleep. If you need an alarm, it should come at the end or near the end of the second-to-last REM cycle. The alarm should interrupt REM sleep, not NREM. Assuming 90 minute cycles and 7.5-8 hours total sleep, the ideal time is after about 6 hours of sleep.

It varies of course. Measure how you feel during the WBTB. You should feel alert enough to get out of bed and do a little reading and writing, but drowsy enough that you are ready to return to sleep. If you feel too drowsy during WBTB, shift it later the next time. If you feel too alert, shift it earlier.
