I love this quote from Inception

Cobb: Well dreams, they feel real while we're in them, right? It's only when we wake up that we realize how things are actually strange. Let me ask you a question, you, you never really remember the beginning of a dream do you? You always wind up right in the middle of what's going on.
      Ariadne: I guess, yeah.
Cobb: So how did we end up here?
Ariadne: Well we just came from the a...
Cobb: Think about it Ariadne, how did you get here? Where are you right now?
      Ariadne: We're dreaming?
Cobb: You're actually in the middle of the workshop right now, sleeping. This is your first lesson in shared dreaming. Stay calm.

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I need to watch this movie again . Last time I watched it was two years ago. I'd like to see how many things I can 'reference' and understand now, after being part of this website for a while

That movie was very interesting. One of my favs, I own it now.

It definitely had some fallacies in it though. I feel like it was too real to be a dream. They bent reality one time, I guess I would rather see some transformations, summoning, flying, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and teleporting. I mean, I loved the movie, but next to LDs it is lacking.

it was kind of a dumb movie, they were lucid dreaming but they are not very creative... guns.. really? in a lucid dream? no flying either? no Kamehamehas?

I think it's a good RC. Question yourself: how did I get here, if you can't get the anwser you are dreaming.

yup, it works, it's enough to just ask yourself if you woke up this morning, if not then it's surely a dream
i used this sometimes, but the nosepinching RC is stillthe best ^^

see the thing is when LD'ers critique the movie they dont realize that the movie was not centered around the idea of lucid dreaming. It was inception, they were not in dreams to go jump around have fun fly and go super saiyan. They were there to implant an idea into someones mind and people dont seem to realize that was the point of the movie. I personally found it to fantastic and is definitely my number one movie of all time. The certain lucid dreaming parallels that were in there was nice, because you dont see lucid dreaming in the media and for noobs like me it helps you to visualize how to create landscapes and stuff.

Sorry off track: but yes i agree, the RC to ask how you got where you are very much works. Provided you dont use dream reasoning to change your mind hahaa

That one question is a huge part of daytime awareness. It will definitelly highten your chance of becoming lucid.

It's a cool movie. It's an action movie, not a documentary. If there was flying and summoning and other "magical nonsense", people who have no idea about LDing would think even less of lucid dreaming, because that surely can't happen in your dreams, right?

I think it was creative, they were floating one time in the movie which in dreams does feel like flying. Guns are common in dreams.

are you considering false awakenings too ? in a FA you woke up, then you also have to RC unless you are sure

Thats why I personally like to use physical RCs - like one where I hold the breath or count my fingers.
