havent been around in a while

But recently I've realized I'm more aware while dreaming. which has gotten me re interested in lucid dreaming. I always find myself running into this problem however. how realistic are lucid dreams? or more specifically, how realistic do they get? because in my dreams the past couple nights, I'm more aware of the fact that I'm dreaming, but not actually lucid in my opinion. I always thought a true lucid dream should feel like real life.

also, I've noticed I'm kind of, passing reality checks in dreams? in a dream when I start to get suspicious, I'll go right for the nose rc. but a couple times I've actually been unable to freely breathe though my nose.

UPDATE: welp just looked through an old thread of mine where I essentially asked the same question about vividness. guess it just takes practice, dj entries, and more practice.

whats up with the nose rc thing though? its weird, is it possible to "pass" a reality check when you really ought to fail?

It depends if you want the dream enough. Also i have had dreams where i will look at written words, look away and back multiple times and it be the exact same, along with counting only 10 fingers. I had a very short and weak lucid dream though.

      Yo and welcome back!
Are you really expecting reality check to work when you do it in waking life? Are you putting emotions into it like "Wow, am i dreaming?"? If not, do both when doing reality checks and it will greatly reduce chance for them to not work properly.
      Good luck!

Yeah, it is possible for a reality check to pass when it should fail. Nose plug is normally a great one, but I would recommend doing 2 RCs if you are unsure about reality. As Checker said, you need to expect it to fail, because RCing is just small amounts of dream control.

Also, LDs can be extremely vivid, more vivid than real life. But they can also be ridiculously blurry. I think that if your dreams are normally blurry, your LDs will probably be more blurry. Of course, you can make them more vivid through dream control as well. All you have to do is be aware you are dreaming when you are dreaming! Doesn't matter how much control or how blurry it is.
