      Talking Have a few questions

hey guys its my first post out here
i want to ask a few thing
and am new to all this lucid dreaming and actually didn't even had one but i was close... sort of i had a nigh mare so i told to my self please let it be a dream then i closed my ayes in the dream and woke up in real
but i think i have a good dream recall i can usually remember my dreams every night today for example i even remembered 2 of them (one is the nightmare)
i am doing reality checks(not like a zombie i really question reality so much that even in reality i start to think maybe its a dream...)
i also noticed that if i sleep like 6 hours a usually wont remember my dream but if have a good sleep like 9 hours(i started to go to sleep more early) i am remembering it
i don't know if it helps but i go every night and just really with the filling and the excitement that today i going to have a lucid dream...
and i want to ask you a question how much it took you to have your first lucid dream? i am doing it for like 6 days i know its not much...
and also i attempted to do wild(like 3) but it seems to be to hard to me my body tense my muscles so much that i am feeling that i am going to explode so i move because its unbearable
so what are you sating about my progress or any suggestions for the noob lucid dreamer?

thanks you for your time !

Welcome to DV, xXYuriXx! It sounds like you are already making wonderful progress. Keep it up! One of the hardest things about learning to lucid dream is patience: it takes a lot for many people. Also I am not sure finding out how long it took others will help you because everyone is different: different people take a different amount of time to lucid dream successfully, and different methods work for different people. Some of the advice I can give you may seem contradictory: do not switch methods too much but keep trying one method for a while, but on the other hand if one thing does not seem to work, try something else; some people find it helpful to read DV tutorials and books about lucid dreaming (for example Stephen LaBerge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming) and trying out the different stuff in the books and tutorials, while others find it better to figure out their own thing what works for them; there is also an intro class on this forum which many people recommend and which you could take. Mostly you need to become good at observing yourself and realizing what is more likely to help you: people are different, and thus one method does not fit all.

I personally am now struggling to get back to lucid dreaming. I used to be quite good at it about twenty years ago, and then forgot about it. Now I have been trying for a month, and have only succeeded once so far. I know why I have not succeeded: I have too much stress in my life right now, and that is a problem that prevents lucid dreams. However, I have decided to be patient and keep trying. I have no idea how long it will take for me to succeed, but that's ok. I don't remember any more how long it took me years ago, but I am pretty sure it was much less time: I was a much less patient person when I was younger, so I don't think I would have kept trying without more successes back then.

Someone else might read about lucid dreaming and have a lucid dream the next night or next week. That happens too. However, I think that is more rare. Most people do need to spend effort to become successful at this. However, it is totally worth it. Once you are successful, you will not regret the effort and patience.

It does sound like you are very close though. If you believe hard enough that you will lucid dream tonight, you may be able to. Keep up the good work!

Personally, it took me a year. But that was with a 10 month period of no practice in between. Since then love had 4 lucid "experiences" as I pike to call them in about a 2 month period. They're the moments when you realize your dreaming but you wake seconds after. Then a couple nights ago, I got my first prolonged lucid. So a few days if you count experiences or a couple months if you count prolonged lucids.

      Edit:
Joanna B is right. With lucid dreaming, everyone is different. This was only my experience. Some people take longer to learn and some people are just naturals at it. Just stay dedicated to it. And if the traditional methods and techniques (ie. WILD, MILD, FILD etc.) Don't work, try something out of the ordinary. It may just work. gab, a moderator, helped me out with that thanks gab. Also, don't get hung up in the rules. Everything works differently for everybody.

Best of luck to you on your journey to lucidity

thank you your comment were very supportive to me i have some thing to ask
why is dream recall is one of the most important things ? i'd be glad to receive and explanation
and 1 more can i realize i am dreaming in a middle of a dream that not the last one?
i mean there is a dream cycle and i dream 5 dreams at that night can i become lucid on the 2 or the third dream? becouse i read that we only recall our last dreams or the one that were interrupted
be ready i have one more on the maximum level of lucidity how much time the lucid dream lasts or can last ?

      Yo.
Took me roughly a week to get my first one intentionally(And it was a WILD, out of everything), though i had one lucid dream before that it happened before i knew about lucid dreaming. But as JoannaB said, everyone is different on that. Congrats on being really close though, if you have realized that you were dreaming instead of asking and then woke up, it would have counted as lucid dream, nightmares are actually a good lucid inducers due to how extraordinary they are, so next time you might succeed.
Your recall and amount of sleep hours are also fine, as well as how you do reality checks, do you have a dream journal though? If not, get one or use one on DV, and start writing/typing dreams, not only it will help increase recall even further, but also will increase chance to get lucid.
Dream recall is pretty important, because even though lucid dreams are much easier to remember than non-lucid dreams, it's still possible to forget them without some practice, especially in the case if you were lucid not in the last dream, in which you can become lucid too, you can become lucid in any dream. That's how many people who are unaware of lucid dreaming become lucid in some dreams, but since they have no recall at all they just don't remember it.
Also there are no levels of lucidity i believe, either you are lucid, or not, but there are levels of awareness. As for the length, due to time dilation in dream, i think it is actually unlimited, since everything is possible in dreams, someone had dream that lasted a few years, my max was a couple of weeks, though i was only lucid near the end of it.
If you want, you can also visit dreamviews academy and it's intro class: Intro Class , which is a good place for people who are new to lucid dreaming to start out.
      Good luck!

thanks for the comment but i'd be glad to receive more
and yes i think i meant level or awareness becouse in the first times evrey think is so blurry and mystic even but with practice and more lucid dream you are more aware o every think is so clear...
and i have dream journal sometimes a wake in the middle of the night with a dream and just make light with my phone so i could right the dream down XD

      Hi Yuri,

excitement is important. With that you also know, that you will have a lucid dream, and this intent is also important.

All you need for starters is do a few reality check and mantras when you ask yourself an awareness question "is this a dream?". Check out this article for more information. Collection of techniques for DILD. If you have any questions about it, just ask here or in the article thread. I would say, if you keep your excitement, you can have a lucid dream on the same night, but it can also take a little longer. Everybody is different. Good luck
