Dream within a dream + First Lucid Dream(?)

Hello everyone, just joined DV and this will be my first post. Hope some of you can help me out

I've been practicing Reality Checks every now and then and made a dream journal where I've stored a lot of dreams right now.

I usually remember 1-2 dreams, however today when I woke up I remembered 4 dreams!
I was amazed, and immidietly wrote them all down.

However, in one of my dreams I was talking to two persons which I never had seen before, my dream-self knew that something was wrong so I took a good look at the people I were talking to and noticed that I was dreaming!
As soon as I figured out I was dreaming everything became so clear, the colors were brighter and such. The first thing that came to my mind was of course flying ( ) When I tried, everything disappeared I believe, the people that I was talking to were gone and the house we were in was gone, so I just flew straight up. When I flew I did like 360's and yellow/light brown strokes appeared around me. I flew for about 6-8 seconds before "Waking up". I then told my two of my friends that I had my first Lucid Dream. What I didn't realize was that I didn't know how I go to my friends. I was in another dream.

I just need this confirmed, was my Lucid Dream in a second dream layer, and if so was I really lucid?

Congrats on your lucid dream! I think you had a false awakening which happens to a lot of people. A false awakening is where you think you've woken up but you're actually still dreaming. So technically you had 2 dreams.

ENIGMA is right. That was indeed a lucid dream. I personally do not know much about dream layers and the like, however what you experienced was in fact a false awakening as previously mentioned. It would be a good idea to practice doing reality checks everytime you wake up, no matter where you are. This can help you catch false awakenings in the future.

      Congrats on your first lucid!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Congrats on the first lucid dream and flying!
False awakenings can indeed be confusing, but they are an simple way to get lucid as well if you experience them often, so as paigeyemps said, do an reality check each time you wake up/get up from the bed.

Good job with your dream recall. Keep up with your dream journal.

Yes, the first dream where you realized you are dreaming was lucid. Than you had a regular dream, which is called false awakening, because it starts with you waking up and going about your business, only later realizing, that it was a dream.

Congrats on your first lucid! Happy dreams
