      New Stabilisation Technique.

      Hi All.

I don't usually use stabilising techniques apart from at the very beginning of my Lucid as they quite often wake me up.
I'll be having a nice stable Lucid and think, I've been in quite long now so I'll touch some surfaces or something to make sure I don't lose it all of a sudden, and then the Dream will fade.
I put this down to unintentionally thinking of losing the Dream as I'm trying to stabilise.
So Instead of stabilising I just use the linking technique spinning, then I don't have to worry about stabilising as I know I can just keep it going by linking it.

However yesterday I was trying to think of a way that I could stabilise where I didn't have to touch anything or think of stabilising in any way after the initial one at the very start of the Lucid.
I quickly thought of making it rain! And that if I made it rain at the start of my Lucid I would feel the rain all over my head, shoulders and back.
It would in a way be similar to touching surfaces with my hands but more so, and I wouldn't have to think of it after I start it.
Lastly I'd also hear the rain falling all around me giving me another sense to keep the Lucid stable.

I tried it last night, I was standing in an industrial type landscape and thought ok let's try the rain.
I concentrated on making it rain (I'd never done this or even had a Lucid where it was raining before so didn't know what to expect) and I could hear a very faint sound of fine rain hitting around me but couldn't feel or see it yet.
I held out my hands to cup the rain but it was to fine, so I thought, make it rain harder, and straight away the sound got louder and I could see and feel it landing on my hands and see it all over the road exactly like real life!
I thought again make it rain harder and it really started coming down now and I could feel it all over my head and shoulders and it was getting pretty loud by now also.
I'm laughing as well by now as it feels, looks and sounds so realistic and think one more time, make it a down pour, and the heavens open!

I go about my Lucid and the Dream is completely stable for about another 10 minutes or so and I could see, feel and hear the rain all the way through.
I saw some guy struggling with a Jet Pack so went to talk to him and as I did went into an underpass so couldn't feel the rain anymore, I could only hear it, and it wasn't long after I couldn't feel it any more that I woke from the Lucid.

I felt this worked very well so thought I'd post it on here for others to try.
I often wake feeling like I'm full of energy after Lucid's but after this one I was really buzzing and still am!

Wow! I'm definitely going to have to try that out. It sounds really effective.

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Sounds like a very good idea to stabilize a dream. Any technique used to stabilize, I've noticed, is simply a way of stimulating the senses of your dream body. Another way to do this, how I would do it, is to maybe feel the sun beating down on your body. Feel the heat of it, and the coolness of the air around you as it swirls around your body cooling it from the Sun.

      Yeah, I don't like rain...

Again, great idea! I'm glad you found something that works for you!

      Yo.
Nice idea, making new techniques that work for you is an interesting part of lucid dreaming experience. Due to difference of various aspects of lucid dreaming between different people, the best technique is most often the technique that you make by yourself by using knowledge from other techniques.
Though as with any stabilization technique, i'd say that you should avoid becoming mentally too dependent from it to the point of exiting the rain making the dream unstable. Stabilization techniques are better to be used to help with stabilization, not to keep stability.

      Thanks Xvaiuer.

      Vagal Tone,
Yeah good idea, I'll have to try that tonight, try to summon up a Blizzard and get some real deep snow to mess around in.

      RealDeal,
Yeah that should work well mate.
I'm used to the rain though, I live in England lol

      Thanks Checker,
Not sure I agree with the last bit though "Stabilization techniques are better to be used to help with stabilization, not to keep stability".
I'd say anything that makes a Lucid last longer than without it is an effective Stabilisation Technique, and that the sole purpose of a Stabilisation Technique is to keep Stability.
I won't get mentally dependent on it though as like I say, I never really use Stabilisation Techniques, I've just read a few posts on here about people who also lose there Lucid's through trying to Stabilise so this was an idea for them to try more so than me.

I tried again last night though and had a good 10-15 minute Lucid so it seems to work.
It's also pretty cool making it rain in a Lucid, so worth a try even just to see and feel it, I seem to wake with that real buzzing feeling you get from really good Lucid's, more so than usual
