      Four Stages of Lucid Dreams

Could someone explain to me what each stage of a lucid dream is and how to distinguish between stages 1, 2, 3, and 4. Thanks

I've never heard of stages of lucid dreaming. Where did you hear tell of these stages of which you speak?

I have no idea what these stages are. What post was this on (if it was on this website) and if it wasn't, what website? It sounds interesting.

Giz Edwards says in his videos depending on the vividness of a lucid dream and how much dream control you have determines what stage of a lucid dream you are in. I was just wondering how to distinguish between each of stages 1, 2, 3, and 4 that he talks about. I am just as confused as you guys are lol.

Nothing in a lucid dream is ever truly stable. Having distinct layers would require stability between them.

Some lucid dreams will be more vivid than others. There is no set "maximum" vividness and no "minimum" vividness. That should be all you need to know. No need to confuse it by throwing in the idea of layers.

I suggest you stop watching Giz Edwards' videos, they're riddled with misinformation. What you are thinking of is the 'layers' of lucidity, an idea that he adopted from fellow youtuber Reece Jones.

Here's the first of the videos on the layers of lucidity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywwlib29LgU It'll explain exactly what is meant. When I started out I found the videos interesting to imagine what lucidity would be like, but the system itself is rather reductionist, it's restrictive and over-complicated.

Oh lord - I was afraid this had something to do with 'Lucidology' and those ridiculous layers of lucidity. Makes for a nice alliterative name, doesn't it? But it doesn't mean anything.

I don't think there are stages/layers of any kind, it's like setting false limits, and i am for one that there are no limits in dream, everything is possible.

Nah, lucidology was another guy, but I'm not a huge fan of anyone who teaches lucid dreaming on youtube. Except Tim Post, he's sound.

He probably ment layers, as in quality of LD.

Because you can have different level of awareness and different level of control. But I personally don't see any benefit of categorizing a LD into layers.

A lucid dream is a lucid dream. Sometimes it's foggy and you barely know what's going on, but can have great control. Sometimes it's crisp like 1080HD, but no control. There is just too many combinations and possibilities. It's not clear cut. I really wouldn't worry about categorizing them into anything.

What I recommend though, is to work on daytime awareness and self-awareness. That will help with quality of all dreams, not just LDs. Happy dreams.
