By sheer power of will: intensions. You can fall asleep intending to wake up after every dream cycle. Actually you already do wake up after every dream cycle, but usually you just adjust your sleeping position, go back to sleep, and forget that you were even awake. However, it is possible and very doable to change this habit to wake oneself enough after every dream cycle to recall and write down dreams, check the time, and depending on what time it is, choose to get up then and not later. Also people can go to bed with the intension of waking up at 4am, and depending on how good their internal clock is this may be enough to wake one up then or close enough. This method is not as reliable as an alarm clock of course, and it depends on the power of your will, and also there is a risk that you may wake up too much or too often during the night using this method, but it is very doable.
