Question My first Lucid dream questions

Hello everyone! I had my first lucid dream and am very excited. Pretty much I tried to dream check in a dream and had a false awakening. The lucid dream itself was pretty long for a first timers. My first question is: Why cant I remember certain parts of my dream? I cant remember how I put on my clothes even though I remember being in my underwear and getting new clothes to put on. 2nd question: How do you fly in a lucid dream? I tried to fly and it didn't work. It was the only thing I tried to do and it didn't work. Please can any of you experienced LDers give me some answers? Another question I have is: The method where you stick your finger through your hand didn't work... Which I thought was odd. Why is that? Question 4: I pushed my finger through my hand so hard it actually hurt! Can you experience pain?

      Thanks in advance,
      Jacob newcomer lucid dreamer

Hello, congrats on your first ever lucid dream! That's an awesome achievement. I can't answer most of your questions as I myself have only had 2 LDs. That said, I can congratulate you on your LD.

As for pain, I don't know about LUCID dreams, but I have experienced pain on NON-lucid dreams; so I know for a fact it is possible. I've seen places that say it isn't, but here's my philosophy: don't tell me it's impossible when I've experienced it for myself, LOL

I don't know why sticking your fingers through your hand didn't work; that worked for my very first LD; I would guess maybe it has something to do with expectations? idk, but I have read around here that sometimes reality checks will go on as normal, as if you aren't dreaming--it has happened to others before. That's why I always use multiple different checks. For example, I personally use the fingers through the palm trick, AND plugging my nose. I choose a third to do too--if there's something around to read, I try and make the text change. In my mind, it can't hurt to do backup RC's

      Once again, Congrats

Hey and congratulations from me as well.

Concerning your question about not remembering some bits of your dream: I guess it's just a question of your epxerience. When I first started I just remembered some fragments. So as your dream recall improves the dreams you remember will be longer and much more vivid.

Concerning the flying issues: You might want to read http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont..._Justification and here are some pretty cool replies as well: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...you-learn.html

concerning your RC problem: Not every RC works for everybody. For me those reading RCs don't work where you have to read text twice or look at a digital clock twice. I can always read fine in dreams. The nose plug RC works best for me. Just try some RCs and see which one works best for you. (important: when you do your RC, don't just do it and get on with things. before you do it actually consider being in a dream and give your awareness a little boost so that you actually notice what happens around you. any flaws? any errors? anything strange at all? Then you will probably already know whether you are dreaming or not. To be absolutely certain perform your RC afterwards)

Yes, as TheSilverWolf said you can experience pain. I have experienced it before as well.

I hope I was able to help
